Publisher's summary

The heat is growing from the inside, but danger is building on the outside.

Judge Andrew Phillips runs a tight ship in his courtroom. He’s tough, and when he hands down a sentence, he expects to be obeyed. So when a fugitive named Harper escapes and threatens his life, Andrew isn’t keen on 24/seven protection...especially not from Deputy Clay Brown. They have a past, one that could cause problems in their careers.

But with Clay assigned to Andrew and the two of them together every minute, there’s nowhere to hide from their attraction - or from the fact that there’s much more than chemistry blooming between them. As the threat intensifies, Clay knows he’ll do anything it takes to protect the people who are taking their places in his heart: Andrew and his young niece and nephew.

All Around Success

The judge and the deputy make a good couple. The feelings seem real. Good narration. I listened to this book in one day. I didn’t want to stop.

Heartwarming romance with a great suspense plot!

Story:
This was a nice mix of suspense and romance with the two MC’s, Andrew and Clay, being forced to spend time together in dangerous circumstances.
Clay is called upon to protect Andrew from an escaped prisoner who’s bent on getting revenge on the judge who sentenced him to prison. To make matters even more dire, Andrew is also confronted with a family emergency and has to take care of his young niece and nephew while trying to stay out of harm’s way.
Clay and Andrew started off on the wrong foot, but they both quickly realize that they misjudged one another. I loved that the moment they start getting closer, they make it clear that “feelings” are involved and that it’s about matters of the heart, not just physical chemistry. So sweet!
The more action-filled and suspenseful part of the plot was well written and thought out, keeping me on edge throughout the story. The twist at the end caught me by surprise.
A big thank you should also go to Petey, Clay’s amazing and brave little Corgi, for being the best wingman ever and helping to keep his humans out of trouble!

Narration: Greg Tremblay is such an amazing narrator! I loved what he did with this story and the characters. His voice has such a warm and pleasant timbre and he did a wonderful job with all the voices, including those of the women and children. He really knows how to bring out the emotions of the characters. There was one scene in particular, a conversation between Andrew and his sister where he brought tears to my eyes with his performance. Brilliantly done.

Awesome narration of an good book

The story starts well. the thriller and romance is kept at a good pace. This is First book in the series I have heard and first book of Andrew Grey. Will I continue reading the series? Yes! Will read any of his books? Maybe

Narrator: it’s Greg T!!! Love his narration! He is the reason I gave this series a try. As usual G’s voice variations and dialogue delivery are exceptional. His work is a bit extra than others!

Carlisle Deputies #2

When the psycho who blames Judge Andrew Phillips for his conviction escapes custody and makes his intentions for revenge known, Sheriff's Deputy Clay Brown is assigned to Andrew's 24/7 protection.

I had fun listening to this. There's some action, a few twists, and a very happy ending. Sweet and suspenseful, with a dual POV, and a touch of enemies-to-lovers, Fire and Granite has fantastic narration with Greg Tremblay offering up a wide array of character voices, great pacing, and just enough emotion to make the story come alive.

Amazing narration

Each book in the Carlisle Deputies series can be read as a standalone as each book focuses on a new couple. The previous ones make appearances, but not to the point where you’ll feel left in the dark if you haven’t read their story. We are back in Carlisle and in the courtroom for this book - well kind of. At least in the sense that our first main character; Andrew Phillips is a judge. A judge whose life is threatened when a man he sentenced escapes from prison promises to come after him. He is less than thrilled with having a protection detail around the clock. And even less so when Clay Brown is added into that detail.

The two has some shared history, and working together causes tension to say the least, and when attraction is added to the mix the only question becomes who'll break first? Things get even more complicated when Andrew's sister is hospitalised and he's awarded temporary custody of his niece and nephew. And with a fugitive on the lose hell bent on revenge they have some tough times ahead.

As mentioned before Grey has a formula to his stories. The love between our two men are always sweet, almost always bordering on insta-love, with instant connection and inherit trust. And I'm sorry, I just don't believe in that, even though Grey tries so hard to make me. That doesn't mean I didn't or don't enjoy his books because I did and I do, but not to the point where I can't put them down or when I do a happy dance when I get a new one in my hands or ears. What I do appreciate is that his book are always quick and easy reads and don't require anything from the reader or listener. They are perfect brain candy when you just need something sweet, and in this case with some added suspense on top.

Greg Tremblay did it again. Just like the first book, his performance of this one is pure perfection beginning to end. He has it all the voices, the feelings and pacing. His voice is pure magic and I'll happily listen to anything that he says!

Fantastic narration

Greg Tremblay is my favorite narrator. He brings stories to life with his interpretation. Good story with just the right amount of angst.

A good afternoon spent

I enjoyed this story. The characters were interesting and the secondary characters were cute and needing love and who also wouldn’t love a cute dog!
