One woman learns the secrets of the five Jaeger brothers in the new romance from New York Times bestselling author Penelope Douglas.

On the other side of town, in the dark glades, under the rain…

Macon is the oldest. Thirty-one. Ex-Marine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile.

Army is twenty-eight. A single dad with the most beautiful green eyes. He has no idea who he is, if not a Jaeger brother.

Iron will be in prison soon. You’d never think it to meet him. He’s a nice guy, actually. But he can’t stop reacting to everything.

Dallas is the one I hate. Twenty-one, cruel, and selfish. He takes and then throws away whatever’s left.

And Trace is mine. Or he was for about two seconds. No one can tame him for long.

Not that I ever wanted to. It was fun, but now I need to go home. Back to my side of the tracks. Away from the swamps and these men. To my parents’ big house. On my clean street. Where I’m never dirty or messy or hot. And I will. I’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning. I just want to crash on the couch tonight.

Their house is dark and quiet, everyone else is asleep. Except for one. He sees me crying and comes at me from behind. I let him wrap his arms around my body and hold me tightly. His breath is on my neck, his fingers are in my hair, and he doesn’t stop there.

I don’t think it was Trace.

This is one messy family with questionable brothers who definitely ride that morally gray line. Although the title implies that it’s about five brothers, it’s not a why choose book, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this isn’t it. But it is such an addictive listen. The majority of the first half of the book is from Krisjen’s POV, and what a complex woman she is. From the “right” side of the tracks, but drawn to the “wrong” side, she just can’t help spending time with the Jaegers.

Get ready for motorbike rides, kisses in the rain, pool parties, a thrilling version of strip tag, bed-hopping, prison, kids, mental health rep, dark themes and spicy times, and so much more. Even though I was daunted by the almost sixteen-hour length of this puppy at the start, I shouldn’t have worried. I should have trusted that Penelope would deliver the goods. AND SHE BROUGHT IT!

And the narration was amazing. I haven’t listened to Abby much before, but you bet, I’ll be keeping an eye out for titles narrated by her moving forward. She smashed it. Vulnerable, sassy, emotional, and just flippin’ brilliant! Each of the guys delivered in their chapters too and a little bonus scene from Dallas at the end was a nice touch. The guys for sure elevated this story, but it was Abby who was the star of the show here.

I’m not gonna tell you anything more about it, just that you need it in your life. It is shooting straight into my highlights for 2024.

Fantastic Story. Stellar Narration. A Must Listen!

Reading this book was literally one of the best books I have read in a long time. It kept me intrigued and wanting more. I did not know who she was gonna end up with because I wanted her to be with every single one of those men they are also great and This book also was just amazing. I would read it again and I recommend it to everyone 100% five star.

Penelope Douglas does it again. I just loved the story & ending. I love the characters, the angst and love each brother has for Krisjen.

I loved this book!

Only thing that would have made this better was if it was a duet narration instead of dual. But that’s just personal preference. THIS WAS AMAZING

Narrators were perfect

Another easy 5 star by PD. This was GOOD, like really good. I flipping LOVED this book. I don’t want to give anything away so I will keep this review short and sweet.

Listen. To. The. Book.
This was d@mn good! Macon character was- ughhh, my heart! Army I adored, same with Iron- which I was kinda sad didn’t get much of. Dallas was a little sh!t that I warmed up too, and Trace he’s just Trace- you’re gotta love him!

If you love PD’s writing and her books, you’ll love this! Out of book one : Tryst Six Venom and this book, hands down this one takes top tier!

This was my second book by Penelope Douglas, and I have found my new favorite author. She has a way of allowing her readers to connect with each character, and shows how the female lead comes into her own. Her storytelling is incredible and the spicy scenes are just too good. Just listen!

So good! Have listened to three times already!

I love Penelope Douglas books but somehow, despite the interesting take on a love story I didn’t really care about the characters. It was a nice listen but nothing to rave about. Or perhaps it was just over hyped and I went in with to high expectancy?

I liked it a lot! Just a bit overhyped?
