About this listen

A heartwarming, low-angst lesbian romance about finding a home and family in unexpected places.

Handywoman Rowan is rooted in her small-town community, accepting every odd job to keep her family's hardware store afloat. When she inherits an old house, it's the perfect opportunity to flip it to pay off her mom's debt.

She never intends to get tangled up with beautiful, adorably nerdy Maia, a visiting big-city radiologist, staying at her aunts' place to mend a broken heart.

Evenings at a nearby lake, renovation projects, and a wild storm keep throwing Maia and Rowan together, and an undeniable attraction sparks. But what future could there ever be for two people with such different goals?

Contains mature themes.

Perfect story for when you need a low angst read that leaves you smiling. It was well written and still had stakes and character development, but sometimes I want a story that doesn't make my blood pressure climb to clinically concerning levels, y'know? This fit the bill nicely. As you would expect from a small town romance, it had the typical lovable small-town cast of memorable characters and family members (and pets!). Thankfully, they were kind folks, and almost anyone unkind was mentioned in past tense. No recurring homophobic townsfolk popping up every other chapter to yell garbage at the main characters here - phew!

Also, gotta love main characters that try to communicate to each other like these two do. So glad that miscommunication tropes are phasing out. It makes for a much more enjoyable read imo.

There were also nods to other sapphic stories out there, which was fun to notice and try to see if I could catch any more throughout the story.

As for the narrator, Anastasia Watley is one of the sapphic narrator legends in my opinion, so this was just a great read all around.

cute, low-angst, feel-good story 🥰

Maia and Rowan's friendship and courtship is such a wonderful unfolding. The MCs embark on a self-discovery journey, emboldening each other to stretch beyond what's known. Such a delightful tale of two people better together with good communication and spicy connections. I really appreciate how the ending evolved.

Chris Zett and Anastasia Watley pair up to weave a lovely tale.

It has the right amount of drama, flipping a house is fun, life changes because of love, MC that you can relate to. And the cherry on top, Anastasia Watley

Loved this book

the only good thing on this audiobook is the narrator, the story is boring, slow, repetitive, predictable and cliche .
