Fallon Bennett wants a happy life and, honestly, she deserves it! After a rough breakup, she packed up and moved to the city of her dreams, following her two best friends. She was getting used to her new life when she met Mackenzie and, wow, did she meet her!
Mackenzie Thompson likes her peace. She's lived in Seattle her whole life, but after surviving heartbreak, she moved to the other side of it. When she meets Fallon Bennett, peace becomes a thing of the past.
As things start to heat up between the two, the past begins to catch up to them, and they have to figure out if what is starting to blossom, is worth fighting for. Will these two become a permanent part of each other's lives, or is the cost of happiness too much to afford?

I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to like a main character to enjoy a story. That being said, I honestly think Fallon is kind of awful. Mackenzie didn’t deserve her mood swings and jumping to conclusions. I get that her ex put her through it but you can’t put that on your new relationship.
Mackenzie on the other hand, no notes. She’s emotionally mature and knows what she wants. Mackenzie did the work to move past her previous relationship experience and take time for herself before jumping into something new.
I didn’t quite understand why Fallon and Mackenzie thought getting together would be a terrible idea and I got kinda tired of the same conflict. But if I said this wasn’t typical lesbian behavior, I’d be lying lol
I will say the twist at the end????? I didn’t see it coming. No spoilers but WHAT??? What a wild ride.
I really enjoyed the narrator and her ability to create the different character voices. My only drawback is that she went too fast. Even on regular speed, she spoke very quickly and I felt like I missed things.
Accurate wlw experience

The narrator was able to capture the nuances of both main characters, and I appreciated how distinct and emotionally grounded their voices felt. Their core love story shines through, and I enjoyed getting to experience it in a new format.
If you loved the book, this audio version is a great way to relive the story… and if you’re new to it, prepare for some swoons!
Mackenzie & Fallon still own my heart…this time in audio.

Fallon Bennett is new to Seattle. She had a rough break-up with her girlfriend and wanted to get away and start over so she moved to Seattle to be close with her two best friends. Then she meets her nextdoor neighbor while celebrating her new found liberation with her friends, alcohol, and loud music. Sparks fly, but not the good kind.
All Mackenzie Thompson wanted to do was sleep until her new neighbor decided to interrupt it with her loud music playing. Little did she know that banging on Fallon’s door would lead to making enemies with her neighbor, running into her around almost every corner, and wanting to bang more than just Fallon’s door.
I have so many thoughts on this book and I hope I can get them across coherently. First off, I 100% loved this book. The tension between Fallon and Mackenzie is palpable. That tension runs through a good part of the book. That tension also makes for some really intense one-on-one scenes. The build up scenes are a tad spicy and some are explicit that lead to either fade-to-black scenes or what I am now calling “sexnesia” scenes. Basically, they have an intense build up to what could be a spicy scene and then next thing you know, fast forward time, and they off hand mention something that they did a day or so ago.
Maybe it is just me but when you have two characters who have n*pp1e piercings and one has a Princess Diana piercing, you think you’re in for a pretty spicy story. As I explained a little before, the lead up to anything “intimate” is more explicit than any actual “intimate” scenes because there aren’t any. This, in my opinion, was one downside of the book to me. I mean, I went in knowing nothing other than the premise and the way it started I figured it was gonna be a spicy story, it was not as spicy as I thought it was going to be. However, my being let down by this one thing, the story is great.
That being said, this is a book that I could listen to again. When I find myself getting invested in the characters, then I know the author has done their job. Fallon invoked absolute anger from me. There are times when Fallon was being an absolute tease by leading Mackenzie on and then backing up and telling her she just couldn’t get into it with Mackenzie because she had been through too much. This happens a few times throughout the book, and it is infuriating and unfair to Mackenzie. Again, this book has invoked feelings in me and I love it! I will end my review on this. If you read this book or listen to it…. the car scene is **chef’s kiss.**
