Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ed Hawthorne’s performances?

No.

Any additional comments?

The Authors are Smarter Than A 5th Grader, but unfortunately, the narrator reads like one. He seems to read word-by-word with no comprehension of the meaning. In the English language, meaning is conveyed a great deal by emphasis on words, but this narrator frequently emphasizes the wrong words, making it hard to ascertain the point. Instead of reading with comprehension, he habitually emphasizes pronouns (even though they're usually the least important words), and when you get the word "you", "your", or "their" several times in one sentence it really gets ridiculous. And when you are listening while driving you simply can't keep re-winding to figure out the true meaning of the sentence. And if you keep going, you miss new information while you are trying to figure out what he actually meant.
When I went back and listened again to several of the chapters, they made more sense to me the second time around, and I realized there's some valuable information in this book.
Might be better to purchase it in book form.

Narrator is a robot?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The content was good and what was advertised. The narration was horrible. Robot voice.

Narration was painful!

What disappointed you about Flipping Your Way to Real Estate Profits?

I really hate leaving bad reviews. In fact, I hardly ever do, but in this case, I feel like I have to get this off my chest! The narration was definately the worst since listening to audio books. It reminded me of when I was in grade school and everyone had to take a turn reading out loud. There were always a few kids that weren't great readers - didn't pause at the end of a sentence, emphasized the wrong word, monotone voice, etc. I remember feeling empathy for them because I knew that this just wasn't their forte and that they were probably really uncomfortable with the whole thing. But, that was grade school, and most of those kids probably improved their reading skills. (Or ended up in jobs where reading out loud was not that important!) This narrator is actually getting paid for reading this book (I assume). IT'S HIS JOB!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I have a long commute to work (driving), and so I like to listen to books. There were so many times I wanted to quit listening to this book and just buy the hard copy and read it myself. You don't know how many times I would think "Well, that doesn't make sense" and then realize that he just didn't end a sentence when he should have or put the emphasis on the wrong word.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I think that the information in this book is good. The only reason I continued to listen is that I did want the information and advice for real estate investing. My advice to you - buy the book and read it yourself.
