Exile never felt so good.
Tom's a trained sniper, not a babysitter. He kills rogue immortals for a living, but after releasing classified information to a friend, he's banished to a remote location with the CRF's most prized asset.
Can two tortured souls find solace and love in one another?
Secrets unfold as Tom forms a forbidden relationship with his new charge. The immortal woman evokes memories and feelings long forgotten and forces him to question everything he's ever known.
Sacrifices must be made.
A rash decision sends them both running for their lives as enemies vie for their heads.
Some bonds are meant to be broken.

"Something wrong, sweetheart?" he asked, feigning innocence.
Blue fire glared up at him. "I would like to shoot you now."
The threat was so unexpected and said with such venom, he couldn't help but laugh. "I'd love to see you try."
"I'll more than try." She sounded so confident. Too bad she didn't stand a chance.
"Hmm." He settled more heavily on her by stretching his legs alongside hers and going to his elbows on either side of her head. Danger instincts flared through his brain while heat licked through his veins. "And then what?"
Her glare cooled as her gaze dropped to his lips. "I would run." Some of her earlier confidence seemed to have disappeared. Smart woman.
He toyed with the loose strand of her hair lying beside his hand. "Probably a good idea considering you'd miss, and I'd be chasing you. Can you do me a favor, though?"
She blinked up at him. "What?"
"Try not to run in circles. It takes the fun out of things."

Tom has spent the majority of his life walking the path his father, Johnathan, has paved for him until he learns the awful truth behind his father's motives. His discovery of the harmful abuse that one particular prisoner undergoes sets Tom on a different path, and leads to a dangerous and almost impossible feat. Getting Amelia out from under his father's ire is only the beginning of a complicated task.
I flew through this book in a day, and that is all due to the ease of Lexi's writing skills. There is so much imagination and thought put into this magnificent world and I cannot get enough. Tom completely redeemed himself by protecting and surrendering his love for Amelia. This book changed my overall perspective of him after reading Blood Laws and made me admire Amelia's independence and selflessness. Their journey is rough and short which makes this story an enthralling and entertaining adventure.
The audiobook for Forbidden Bonds is a duet narration performed by Anais Inara Chase and Tor Thom. There is no doubt that these two made my listening experience enjoyable, and what I liked the most about their talent is the ability to make each character unique and distinct. They fit each of their characters perfectly and I only hope to come across more of their work. If you prefer this format, I highly suggest listening along to this action-packed story.

It was boring. the romance was boring. It was drug out at times and rushed at other times.
The foundation of the series arc is good, but this just isn't my cup of tea.
Also, she used a chess analogy and I lmao when she reversed the roles of King and Queen pieces. Like, have you never heard of Google?!? It's also the most basic principle of the game. That's just lazy.
Female narrator was excellent as she always is, but the males voices for females drove me insane.
Sooooooooo much inner monologue
