About this listen

Caprice:

I left because I had to; my father was selling me off to the most dangerous man in the world like I was a prized pony. There was already so much taken from me at the hands of my father, and I would allow nothing else to be ripped from me - especially my future.

It was simple. I found a new identity. I wasn’t Caprice DiGiovanni, I was Amber, a sweet and sassy Southern girl from Alabama. I ran to the last place my father would expect me to go - Ireland.

Everything was working out great for me - that is, until Sergei found me. I just never anticipated Liam Mackenzie coming to bat for me. He knew Amber; he never knew Caprice. Now he’s got us both.

Liam:

From the second she walked into my bar and asked for a job, I knew she was special. Something about this Southern girl caught my eye. It didn’t take me very long to discover that she was hiding something; her awful accent was proof of that.

It turns out she was far rarer than I could ever imagine. When her world came crashing down around her, I was the one ready to pick her up. It didn’t matter that she was off-limits, or that she was forbidden in every sense of the word. I’d find a way to make her mine, and I did. Caprice DiGiovanni is my forbidden love.

5/5

Forbidden Love is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Knox and the first book in the MacKenzies series. Once I started listening to the book I was hooked and intrigues. Caprice is on the run from her father and the man he's forcing her to marry. Taking her little sister so she doesn't have to endure the abuse that she has suffered they go to Ireland to seek protection from the Irish Mafia whom Caprice has heard is honorable and will keep them safe. When Caprice's past catches up to them, she's forced to marry Liam in order to be officially protected. I like how Caprice was honest about her experiences and how patient and protective Liam was. Forbidden Love is a great start to new series and I cannot wait to read more.

Excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was another great read by Elizabeth Knox. I have read a few of her books and I am never left disappointed. Liam and Caprice was a beautiful story and I was excited to learn at the end of the book that there will be more to come. This book is really a page turner.

Swoony Irish accents!

Both of these narrators pulled off amazing Irish accents, as well as a great mix of other dialect thrown in. While I wasn’t crazy about the main female accent, her voice was amazing and I enjoyed the story. A good story, great male main character and an easy listen.

Too many secrets

This book seems to have too many secrets lol but all in all I really enjoyed it. I don’t understand why Liam was so mad about some of the secrets. He should know that they were doing it for safety and all. All in all I really did enjoy the books. Gabriel and Rose did an amazing job at narrating

love it

This is a story of two mafia daughter's escaping from their father. Caprice, the older sister has been a pawn , sexually abused by her father's cohorts. She was promised in marriage to a ruthless Russian mob boss.
Her younger sister, Alessandra, is not aware of the atrocities that surrounded Caprice growing up.
They escaped to Ireland, Caprice finds a job working at a pub owned by the Irish mob. Liam Mackenzie knows she is hiding something, but why?
This story is full of intrigue, mystery, danger. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story.
Gabriel Thorne and Rose Mcmahon narration is very good.

Forbidden romance

Caprice is desperate to escape the arranged marriage her father is forcing her into. She runs to the only place she can think of to hide, under the nose of her father’s rival. But a fake name and a fake accent aren’t much for keeping Liam from discovering who she really is. They also don’t keep him from falling for her sweetness and beauty. But things quickly spiral out of control, forcing a fake, and then maybe not so fake marriage, in a heat of the moment decision. But their love is forbidden, and despite their growing emotions, they don’t know how they would ever have their happily ever after. I love the dynamic between Liam and Caprice, they have great chemistry and some good banter. The way they get their HEA is also interesting, and made for an engrossing story.

Extremely Enjoyable!

What an expolsive story! I was surprised and shocked more than once! The characters are both sharp and dangerous. I throughly enjoyed following Caprice along on her journey. Liam is just the best kind of guy! He steps up to help when needed and just goes with the flow. He does have that dark vibe coming from him but Wow does he protect and admire Caprice.

I did listen to this in audio. Both narrators are new to me and do an excellent job. The accent for Liam is just so dreamy which helps make this easy to listen to.

Book 1 - Mackenzies

This is book 1 in Knox's Mackenzies' series. A mafia romance read / listen with all the twists and turns that come with mafia reads. I love these characters - Caprice is an Italian mafia princess who's been treated as anything but by her family who flees to Ireland to hide under her fathers mafia enemy so to speak. Liam is the heir to the Ireland mafia throne and is captivated from the start by the beautiful Caprice. At first I thought that Liam was a bit soft but as the book goes on you see his protective streak come thru. Caprice will do what she needs to survive and in doing so ends up thriving. I'm a bit curious as to Caprice's sister and Liam's best friend and hope to get more about them soon. The dual narration was wonderfully done - love the voices, accents, tone - really, very well done. I also enjoyed the quotes found before each chapter and the dual point of view. All in all a great listen and I'm very much looking forward to more from Knox and this series!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

It didn't all feel resolved

I was liking this book..... until the end! The story of Caprice and Liam was quite interesting ... She ran away and hit to avoid an arranged marriage, and he decides to marry her, mostly for his own reasons, but also to save her from the maniac that she is supposed to marry. I thought their story was great! I loved how they were with each other and how they handled things together. Problem was that there were things that happened in the book that I felt like were unresolved. There are other books in the series (which they set up for the next one real well) but they don't seem to have much to do with Caprice and Liam, which means that the issues that they had would not be front and center so you would not know how they get resolved, if they even do. That was a bit disappointing.
