A.L. Jackson
From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a single-dad, enemies-to-lovers stand-alone romance about a jaded club owner and his son’s teacher....
Eden Murphy came into my club looking to make some extra cash.
A girl like her didn't belong in a place like this.
She'd get ripped to shreds.
Most likely by me.
There's nothing but sweetness dripping from her sexy little body, and I'm the monster who's salivating to get a taste.
Trent Lawson is the last man I should want.
Dark.
Dangerous.
So wickedly gorgeous he makes my knees weak.
He's also an arrogant jerk who happens to be my new boss.
When I discover his adorable son is also in my kindergarten class, I know I have to keep my distance.
But neither of us can ignore the attraction that flames.
One glance, and our hearts race.
One touch, and we’re aching for what we can’t have.
One night, and we’re falling fast.
Dragging her into my sordid world is wrong.
It doesn’t matter.
Eden Murphy is mine.

I read a part on this one in an email and knew I wanted to read it and I was not disappointed. This story has everything I love to make a story great. It is filled with fun, laughter, pain, suspense, intrigue, flirting, a sexy alpha male, a strong independent woman, and the cutest little boy to tie everything together.
Trent is a man who thinks he is past forgiveness, the only good in his life is his son and his brothers. When Eden shows up at his club looking for a job, he knew right away that she is too good for the job and him. But there is something about her that calls to him, the sparks fly between them.
Eden Murphy never thought she would walk into a club looking for a job but when things threatened her father's church and her job, she knew she would do whatever she needed to do.
It is funny to me how these two meet after her job interview, you know what I mean if you have read it and if not you need to read this one.
Author A.L. Jackson had definitely hit this one way out of the ballpark. I can not wait for the brother's stories. I listened to the audio version and loved both narrators, Connor Crais, Desiree Ketchum.
Perfection!

Since my friends know I go a little feral for single dad romances, it was no surprise that Give Me A Reason was recommended to me. And add in the fact that I've had this book siting and waiting for me since 2021 and apparently NOW was the time to read it. I mean, LOOK at that cover!! That's hotness right there. But it's the small town, boss employee romantic suspense story in between those pages that that will keep you engrossed from beginning to end.
Eden needs another job to help her dad after some major family issues. When she walks into Trent's club, he knows she is too good for a place like his, but he can't help but be attracted to the beauty. He gives her a job hoping she won't make it past the first night. But the fighter in Eden is there to stay and Trent can't help but be attracted to that.
This was a story of almost an insta lust, but what follows is so much more. 2 people fighting their attraction because 1,-Eden works for Trent and 2,-Eden turns out to be Trent's son Gage's teacher. These two things cannot and will not not mix for so many reasons. Trent has one reason for life and he can't add anything else to his plate. She is light when he is dark. She is good when he is bad. But Trent would do anything to keep his family and his son safe and if that isn't good enough for Eden, then nothing will be.
I loved having these two seemingly very opposite characters come together in such an emotional way. They had their reasons for life and they both were their family. Love is what bonded them, but Trent was the one fighting their attraction every step of the way. Their emotional pull was just as strong as their physical pull. And add in sweet, smart little Gage into the fold and you have a perfect combination. But there was more at play than just Trent, Gage and Eden falling for one another. A.L. Jackson adds a bit of a mystery to their journey and connecting them in ways that could wreck them in the end. I liked how we got to see Trent and his journey from his childhood to present and how that affected the decisions he made. We also got to hear from Eden's sister that played a major role in why Eden was helping her dad and it was so very ugly. Two pasts that could ruin their futures, but their love for one another was stronger.
If you enjoy single dad romances set in a small town with some suspense build up, I would definitely check out this book. It made me excited to see that it was the first one in a series, so I will most definitely be picking up the next books. If you're an audio listener like myself, you can't go wrong with Connor Crais and Desireé Ketchum as Trent and Eden. Connor can play a bad boy like nobody can and Desireé captured the goodness of Eden.
Can't wait to continue the Redemption Hills series.
Great narration that captured the characters
