Publisher's summary

The highly anticipated sequel to Reclaiming Honor is finally here. Best-selling and award-winning author of Stiger’s Tigers and the Karus Saga, Marc Alan Edelheit has teamed up again with national best-selling author Quincy J. Allen to deliver an epic fantasy adventure, told from the perspective of dwarves.

A Pariah amongst dwarves, Tovak bears the burden of his people’s disdain and his family’s disgrace. And yet, Tovak has proven himself in battle, shown his courage in risking life and limb to save his comrades. Though not everyone accepts him, he has finally found his place as a skirmisher and member of the Baelix Guard Company.

Armed with his faith in his god, ample determination, and unquenchable courage, Tovak soldiers forward. Dispatched on a dangerous mission against the Horde that could mean life or death for his people, his section is sent behind enemy lines. Everything hinges upon the mission’s success.

However, something is not quite right with Tovak. He can feel a power he does not understand building within, guiding his steps forward toward what seems to be destiny. He fears he is losing his mind, but he will not shy away from duty, for in the struggle to come, the warband needs every sword. And make no mistake, desperate times and hard fighting lie ahead. Tovak might just be the key to his people’s salvation, or perhaps even their downfall...for the gods are involved in the fight that is to come.

Struggling against his past and the stigma of being a pariah, Tovak must unravel the meaning of this power building within him and forge his own destiny - or die trying.

Set upon the world of Tannis, some years before the arrival of Karus and the Lost Legio IX, this book is a Last War novel.

Incredible!!!

The transition of the main character in this book is so good! If you’re into Paladins then this is a must read. Really great military fantasy within an epic fantasy setting and the making of a holy warrior to boot. Just a great book!

Fantastic Fantasy Adventure

I enjoy"love" reading new epic fantasy adventure novels. When I first started, it was at the beginning of Book 2. I liked the flow as the story line, then it encompassed my drive for a new fantasy adventure. I look forward to going back to reading book 1 and the continuing adventure of the Palladian.

Thulla Protects

I love these books, Marc and now Quincy are building a universe to rival Lord of the Rings. What sets this book apart from others is the Dwarf culture, unique to this world and yet similar to other Dwarf stories. I enjoy reading the culture/religious parts and I hope the future stories will add more. I can't wait for the next book, really I can't wait for any of the books.

keep up the amazing work.

Strange turn of events

This second book of the series was a grand continuation. It filled much of the knowledge of the dwarves as well as putting a more personal touch to them.

The adventures of this young dwarf was so close to the way humans treat each other at times you can't help but to relate to him.

His transformation is outstanding also.

The narrator did an out standing job.

No scammed 1 hour!

In the first book, there was a full hour of a random chapter of another of the authors book at the end. This book, however didn't have such a shameless tactic in it :) The story was very good and things progressed very interestingly throughout, especially more so in the backhalf. This time i was able to keep track of characters and voice better, though am unsure if that is just down to the fact i had already listened to the first book. There were new characters in the book that i found to be voiced very well. The author has a good grasp on describing things in good detail, of world building and of keeping you engaged. And he didn't even put in a 1 hour, unasked for and unwanted portion to this book!
