About this listen

Sixteen-year-old Effie Martin is in trouble. No one in her family understands her, some mean girls refuse to invite her to their picnic, her clothes are a mess, and she's mad at the world. Impulsively, she hops on her bike and soon finds herself in the middle of a drama where she saves the day. Her heroic act becomes a turning point in her life.

Helped by a young man who once taught her how to throw a baseball and is now on his way to become a missionary, she reevaluates her priorities. He explains that her full name, Euphemia, means "of good report ". Now, she must find a way to practice patience, unselfishness, and mindfulness to get that good report.

But she needs guidance. "In a sort of shamefaced way she knelt beside her bed and prayed. She was not used to praying. She had meant by it to let God know that she was 'thinking on these things'."

And so Euphemia's new life begins ...

Is there any hope for loners with social awkwardness? Yes! I love when the true character of Euphemia Martin is proven in an unplanned event. Then a young Christian provides just the right guidance to inspire that transformation that only comes through Christ Jesus.

This must be intended for twelve year olds. I wasted a credit on it, assuming it was one of GLH’s jazz age romances.
Not very interested in hysterical teen hormones. 🫤

Uh. Ok…
