Publisher's summary

After being shuffled around Portland’s foster care system until he was six years old, Keelan was finally adopted into a family that taught him that above all else, tradition was the foundation for a good life. Once you had that, you could pursue your dreams. And he’s doing that, building a new business park with his long-time friend Leyta.

Peter Larkins, who grew up without a mother and a father who taught him to take whatever he wanted and then move on to the next opportunity, arrived in Portland, ready for his next project and maybe have a little fun along the way.

So, when Keelan’s friend hires Peter as the project for their new venture, tensions grow. Will these two very different people butt heads? Or will they find commonality and be able to move forward, building a new foundation of love?

Foundations of Love is a prequel to Walter Hopgood and Lisa Witte’s Hart’s Square series, a Portland Business Park romance series of books.

Cute story, Good Narration

This was a cute sweet story, a good prequel to a romance series. I liked all the characters, Peter, Keelan and Leyta. I enjoyed following how attraction between Peter and Keelan grew and developed into something special. Narrator did a great job, he is a new to me voice and I am looking forward to more of his work. Overall this was an enjoyable listening experience and I am looking forward to the next book in the Hart's Square series.

A Sweet Love Story for Keelan and Peter

It’s opposites attract in this short prologue to the ‘Hart’s Square’ series. Keelan has just landed the property development project of he dreams in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, and Peter is the newly hired project manager who never seems to put roots in any one place. Can these two men build a foundation of love together?

Because Keelan is Peter’s boss, they both hesitate in forming more than a friendship between them. Since the story is very short, we have what I would say is insta-love. Peter and Keelan share a passionate night together. The next morning, through a misunderstanding, a little bit of angst ensues. After fixing the hurt feelings, there is a sweet happily-ever-after. Despite this quick story being the set-up for a series, it stands alone. I found it to be an adorably cute read.

Ian Lockheart does a really good job with narration. Both accents sound perfect to my American ears. At times there’s some background noise during the production.

This audiobook was given to me by request as a free review copy and I’m now leaving a voluntary opinion.

Pretty Good

Overall a pretty good story. Nothing super great but enjoyable for sure. Author does more telling than showing, IMO. Decent narration.

Short and Sweet

This is a pretty short and sweet story. While some shorts can leave you wanting I think this was a full story and the narrator did a great job making it an enjoyable listen.
