About this listen

The road to self-discovery leads Maverick Kensington deep into the heart of New Orleans. The colorful characters, beautiful scenery, and a hot mess of a woman he finds along the way offer him the perfect place to reinvent himself.

The French Quarter and Blue Bayou are exactly the change of pace he's looking for, helping him escape the soul-sucking work he does for his father's company.

Carys Matthews is young and inexperienced. Having her family's hotel dropped in her lap after her mother's untimely death, she's struggling to keep her head above water and keep the hotel's doors open. She doesn't have time for relationships, but Maverick Kensington is worth an exception. Besides, his stay is temporary and a fling never hurt anyone, right?

His passion and business know-how is exactly what she needs. Her carefree spirit is what he wants.

Their whirlwind relationship is one for the books until truths are untold and assumptions are made. Everything comes to a screeching halt just when they were getting to the good part.

There's always been a saying around the hotel: eventually, everyone comes back to the Blue Bayou. Will Maverick be the exception?

Contains mature themes.

What a hot MESS in the best way!

oh what an adorable Carriss. . And if you don’t fall in love with Maverick something is wrong with you.
this story is so realistic and these characters have relatable flaws. Adding in the wisdom of the grandfather‘s diary just makes this a lovely book. I highly recommend this read to anyone who wants a feel-good sexy undercurrent story with secondary characters that also get in your heart .. The narration is fantastic. I have found two new narrators that are a must listen to me.!!!

Couldn't stop listening

I couldn't put this one down! I snuck my ear buds into the office so I could even listen at work. My coworkers may have been on to me when I let out a gasp or giggle apparently out of no where! Now I want to plan a trip to New Orleans so I can explore this iconic city!

Cute

It was free with my subscription so I listened. It was a cute romance. I thought I could predict what was going to happen but I was wrong. Cute couple Maverick and Cary’s are.

I enjoyed the book.

Loretta Rawlins voice was a bit grating, but overall, the book was not bad. If you can't copy a good Nawlings (New Orleans) accent, don't try.

Disappointing

I wanted to like this story, and I tried, but it was all I could do to get through it. The plot was entirely predictable, which is not unusual in a romance novel, so that alone didn't turn me off. The setting and supporting characters were reasonably well drawn. However, the two main characters made me want to scream. They are described as being reasonably smart business people, but the twists and drama all seemed to hinge on them making stupid choices and acting in ways that seemed designed for them to get in their own way. And the forces that keep them apart? We're supposed to believe that their intimacy is delayed for days because Maverick gets too tired and needs a good night's rest -- twice? I felt like the authors decided to draw out a four or five hour story to fill close to nine hours, so they added in a good deal of pointless filler and delay. I also was not a fan of the female narrator, Loretta Rawlins, as she seemed rushed and not very invested in her own character. Eric Michael Summerer, though, was excellent, as usual, and listening to his voice got me through to the end.

I love this book.

I love the southern accent the narrators had. It gave me a better image as I listened. I love the story line, and thank you for the ending. I wasn't left hanging or wondering what happened. I loved this book.
