About this listen

Kendall Morgan puts her sixth sense back to work in the second audiobook of the Relic Seekers series, divining the history and location of ancient relics. Her boss, gorgeous billionaire Nathan Larraby, sends her to Italy to safeguard a priceless treasure belonging to the Protettori, an ancient order of monks who guard four powerful relics.

Nathan believes these may be the cure for his dark curse. He also sends brooding mercenary Jake Stone to watch Kendall’s back - although her back isn’t all Jake has his eye on.

Nathan joins them, and all three tumble into a labyrinth of defenses created by the monks to protect their treasures, including the Fountain of Youth. They find themselves in England on the trail of the legendary King Arthur, who along with the Reaper, seems connected to the Protettori. Sparks fly and bonds are tested as Kendall and Nathan’s pasts are revealed and Jake’s becomes even more mysterious. The trio must stay one step ahead of the Reaper if they want to survive.

Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere...oh my.

Fountain of Secrets is the second installment of presumably four (considering the four powerful relics) books in the series.

The story picks up immediately after the conclusion of the first book, Guardians of Stone, leaving Kendall, Jake and Nathan back at Nathan's mansion to contemplate and think about the events that have occurred in Italy. Soon Kendall and Jake once again find themselves on another mission by Nathan which, not surprisingly, delves them into another relic hunt or mystery, danger and secrets.

This second installment is very similar to the first; however, it definitely lacks in the action and is more built on the romance. The plot itself revolves around Kendall, Jake and Nathan searching for the Fountain of Youth. With Nathan keeping secrets, he is rarely with the group until the later parts of the books which proved to be a bit annoying - especially with the developing romance.

The characters were nearly identical to what we saw in the first book except with the continual bonding and openness we see with all of them. Kendall is noticing both Jake and Nathan are more than just her coworker and boss. Jake is noticing how much he is starting to care for Kendall as a women. Nathan is still mysterious as ever, but we start to see him being more open, caring and protective of the girl he seems to love and the man he thinks a brother.

The developing plot took an interesting turn and quickly lead to tales of King Arthur and his knights. Though most people know of the tales of King Arthur, with the first book being about the Spear of Destiny, I had no idea that this would lead to King Arthur in anyway. I found it both intriguing that it took this route and very confusing and farfetched.

As we found out in the first book, it is hinted that one of these two men may or may not be Kendall's long lost friend and first love, Adam. With that in the air, she constantly finds herself comparing them and I can't help but wonder if she is making her romantic decisions based on the past or on the present. I knew the romance would be more prominent in this book though I will admit I do not like where it is heading. What was once a very small and insignificant love triangle possibility, it has officially bloomed into a full bloody love triangle - which I despise.

Though fun and intriguing, the book and series itself seems very predictable to the point I am not sure if I will continue it. It is not a bad book or series, it is just a plot that, at least for me, is easily guessed at and though I do not know where the romance is going, I love both male characters too much to watch either of them face the heartbreak that I am sure they are going too.

Fans of King Arthur tales, reincarnation, treasure hunting and secret foundations will definitely love these books and should definitely check them out. Note that these books almost need to be read in order otherwise you may find yourself very lost and confused.

Credit worthiness? It was free through Kind Unlimited so I did not use a credit though I would probably not use a credit towards the audiobook as the narrator was not a favorite of mine and I found it difficult to differentiate between the characters voices and was not as into the story as I would have preferred.

i've always had a soft spot for king arthur

i skipped book one and started here which wasn't easy - there was a ton of backstory that i missed and characters that i didn't know. However i got into the story, cared about the main 3 and thought it was overall a good listen. sad that the girl always goes for lancelot....i'm team arthur.

Fountain of Secrets: The Relic Seekers, Book 2

I have enjoyed these series as the characters have different capabilities. Nathan, a billionaire who hired Jake and Kendall to find relics that will cure his curse. Jake a soldier/mercenary is hired to protect Kendall and help find the relics. Kendall who has The Sight and has the ability to touch people and objects/relics and see what potential they have and has visions from the past. They are combating an evil presence called the Reaper. These stories have an Indiana Jones style as there is a lot of action. There is also romance between the characters. I have found the stories entertaining.
