About this listen

The program features a new introduction written and read by the author.

"If you're only going to read one book on the Middle East, this is it."—Seymour M. Hersh

One of the most thought-provoking books ever written about the Middle East, From Beirut to Jerusalem remains vital to our understanding of this complex and volatile region of the world. Three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas L. Friedman drew upon his 10 years of experience reporting from Lebanon and Israel to write this now-classic work of journalism.

Rich with anecdote, history, analysis, and autobiography, From Beirut to Jerusalem will continue to shape how we see the Middle East for many years to come.

Tom brought the Middle East so alive & vivid the dynamics of power diplomacy culture religion and truth...his raw stories & examples left no stone unturned from this as a Nigerian I also drew wisdom on ways a people can choose to move fwd or allow the past to consume the future...

Great on the ground perspective of the seemingly endless conflict that is the Middle East. If you are looking for a take on the origins of the conflict over Palestine and Israel, this is the listen for you. Great first person narrative interspersed with real quotes from all the major players of the time. Sadly the optimism at the end has been disproven from the last 30+ years of recent history.

A dated but still relevant take on the Israel/ Palestine conflict
