About this listen

From Politico’s National Political Reporter Alex Isenstadt, a fly-on-the-wall account of Donald Trump’s history-defying reelection campaign, illustrating how he overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges to return to the White House.

Over the course of the last four years, the American public looked on as the former president faced a series of daunting obstacles to return to the White House. The lingering cloud of January 6, a shadow effort within the Republican establishment to defeat him in the primary, multiple indictments, assassination attempts, and an 11th hour change of his opponent all threatened to derail his return to power at any moment.

In Revenge, journalist Alex Isenstadt takes listeners deep into Mar-a-Lago, inside the courtroom, and aboard “Trump Force One” to show how Trump and his revamped team responded, overcame, and in some cases orchestrated each and every surreal moment in this one-of-a-kind presidential campaign. Based on extraordinary access and over 300 interviews, Isenstadt paints a unique and deeply revealing portrait of a man bent on returning to the White House at all costs—and who successfully portrayed himself as an avatar of vengeance for the millions of Americans who voted for him.

Now, for the first time, listeners will experience Trump’s reelection bid from the inside.

Insider look at the Trump machine.

No dislike. The author has documented an incredible political comeback story. Trump had created a true political movement that will be studied for years.

if you followed the election, you already know most of it, but it's still a great listen.

I'm not at all a Trump supporter, quite the opposite actually, but I love history and politics. I don't think the author takes a positive or negative take on the story, just the facts. I wish there were a bit more inside details, but what you get is pretty good. Some of the other reviews seem to take it as a pro-Trump redemption story, but I didn't come away with that outlook. The same people that spread propaganda about George Soros paying plants to protest seen to have no issue at all with Elon Musk openly paying people to vote Red.

contains lies already proven false!

The author buys whole heartedly into false narratives about Trump. very frustrating.
other than that there's some very interesting things within the book that most people would find interesting and enlightening, but it's going to be a bit difficult to know what actually is true given that clear and undeniable falsehoods are spoken as if they are 100% factual.
the most obvious being the Charlottesville very fine people hoax which the author reiterates as factual. if he can't even get that correct among others that are in the book then one is left wondering what else he is overtly lying about.

Story seems in line from available news -Narrator voice is nice

It was good but if you followed the election there isn’t surprises or revelations- to a supporter of his anyway. Obviously some details, like the human printer. That was
Interesting. Good book overall. Nice voice.

Entertaining review

Great recap if the election. Seemingly unbiased. I do recommend. Not a bad read.

Balanced review of the events.

It replayed events I followed over a little more than 4 years in a way that made sence.

So so

Some new information, seemed rushed especially by the end. But overall not bad as a addition to other more nuanced books about election. Not good as stand alone

Only read if you've been asleep the last 4 years

Short review because this book doesn't deserve more. Most of what the author recounts is bog standard CNN talking points. Apparently he believes the "revenge" Trump sought was about Republicans showing insufficient fealty. Yeah Trump was arrested in Georgia, but did you know DeSantis slighted him by bragging about his governorship victory at the wrong time?

Also Trump said neo-nazis were "fine people" in 2016, That is important context the author wants to make sure readers know.

Author is obviously MAGA

Story is watered down and probably reviewed by the Trump team. Many big events are glossed over.

If you want to get the real story, the Michael Wolf book is the real deal

This must be the children's version

This book probably names people and events correctly. It does nothing to elucidate Trump's obsession with seeking revenge and his need to seek the presidency again to avoid prison.
