About this listen

Amanda gives a whole new meaning to cool.

Amanda Smith is sick of getting chased from town-to-town. So when she lands in tiny Trifle, Arizona, she hopes it's her last move for a long time. Despite hating the smallness of the town, she settles in and finds a best friend, and even a boyfriend. Normality at its finest.

But for a girl who can shoot snow from her hands and lift a two-ton truck over her head like a bag of feathers - normal is not an option.

The scientists who murdered her mother come barreling into Amanda's quiet life. She must decide if she'll run again or stay and fight. The price of either choice might be her life or the lives of those she's come to love.

A portion of all proceeds to cancer research/treatment.

Cold hands - HOT book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

In a New York second! I've already told ALL my friends to log on immediately and get started on this new action/fantasy series. Who wants to spend another day without following the adventures of Amanda, a normal teenaged girl with super powers?

What about Gwyneth Price’s performance did you like?

Gwyneth does an amazing job bringing the characters to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Fight or flight with Amanda, a hot chick who gives a whole new meaning to COOL!

Frozen meets Modern Romance Sci-Fi

This story isn't just a fantasy about ice shooting from a girls fingers like Elsa in Frozen. There is a mysterious sci-fi aspect to it as well. There seems to be some genetic modifications going on, not just "magic". I look forward to learning more about it in the next book. There's also a creepy group our protagonist, Mandy, has been running from called "The Center", I'm thinking it's a government organization. I wish Charles Xavier would come rescue her. I feel like any minute she's going to freeze a boy to death, just like when Rogue sucked the life out of that boy she kissed. haha.

It's a fun and unique book that I think both teens and adults will enjoy.
Parents will also appreciate that while this is a Teen Romance with some sexual tension and a little bit of language, the author Never encourages teen sex or drinking. She also very clearly applauds finishing high school and going to college (even though the protagonist is reluctant.) It's surprising to me how many young adult books are about kids getting into trouble and don't paint that in a negative light. I'm not saying Mandy is an angel, she's got spunk, you'll like her.

I also enjoyed listening to the narrator, Gwyneth. She actually sounds like a teenager with an attitude, not a 30 year old reading a book.
