Thankfully I didnt pay for this book, it was included with membership
The pronunciation, cadence, and obvious/inevitable lack of familiarity with the words being "spoken" is like having person 2 read person 1's report outloud with no prior subject knowledge or prior proofreading. I stopped at the phrase "some of the assassins that killed JFK", in reference to the rifle being used. Hearing that soulless "voice" struggle with calibers and "millimeters" was wretched.

Great information, but very challenging to listen to because of the AI narration. Disappointing. AI is not great at everything.

The AI narration is cringy

Sad that even audio books now have to be narrated with DEI voices. This is ridiculous.

Sounds like it is read by AI. It mispronounces words and emphasizes syllables strangely and then a few minutes later says the same word differently. It is real robotic sounding and painful to listen to in some parts. Do yourself a favor and just read the text version.

Good Book Real Bad Audiobook

Easily the worst book I ever had from Audible,. The narration was amateurish was constantly mispronouncing words that showed the narrator had no knowledge of the subject at all. This is more common than you would think. Like BAR(browning automatic rifle) consistently pronounced as “bar” or the IRA (Irish Republican Army) consistently pronounced as Ira. Overall, a pretty poor effort.

The book is well written with a great deal of artistic license in certain sections, however, a lot of good research went into the book and does bring forth many valuable lessons, the artificial AI narration is completely and totally horrendous, gross mispronunciations, bad flow. It is frustrating to try and listen to. I cannot recommend this title for that specific purpose.

Good book horrendous narration

I really, really want to give this book a 5/5 but you can definitely tell that the narrator is not a real person. Admittedly I did not pay attention to that part when I bought the book, but within the first 5-10 minutes of listening I could definitely tell something was wrong. The way some of the words are pronounced (such as Stalingrad, or the calibers of different rifles/pistols) - it irked me so much. I got to chapter 7 and I just could not take it any more. I will be returning this and buying a print copy, because...

The content of the book itself is absolutely amazing. a real shame that the author did not try to narrate it himself or have friend/family member do it for them. because there are some amazing stories, history, and philosophies/principles/lessons of sniping and warfare that could be learned. Looking forward to picking up where I left off in the print version.

the AI/virtual narrator really kills it...

Not worth reading. Written by chat gpt. It just repeats itself constantly. Do not recommend at all.

AI Slop

The virtual voice narrating the book mispronounces common terms, has a distracting "mush-moufed" urban accent, and has a stilted delivery.

Do not waste your money on this audiobook. Read the printed version.

The AI "narrator" is terrible
