Interesting, true story

Very good lessons. The author give first hand accounts of various missions he was involved in as a delta force commander. After he is done telling the story of each mission he gives a “guiding principle” from lessons learned. The main mission in the story is Operation Anaconda, which was conducted soon after 9/11 in an effort to defeat the al Qaeda terrorism forces. This account is very interesting and tense. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in history of recent combat.

Outstanding insight

This book gives an outstanding insight into why the most powerful military force in the world is continually ineffective when pitted against far inferior forces. It is also a prime example of ‘those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it’. It is especially relevant in light of recent historical events. It’s perfect for all levels since it doesn’t get too technical while explaining in enough detail to be interesting to history buffs. The narration is excellent and easy to follow when going from one person to another. Highly recommended!

Good mix of stories and lessons

A friend of mine recommended this to me years ago, and I finally got the chance to sink in, finishing it in a few days. The author does a great job of sharing exciting stories from his time with Delta Force, while extrapolating lessons learned that can be applied in any industry, but particularly in the military.
