About this listen

Furry fandom is a recent phenomenon, but anthropomorphism is an instinct hard-wired into the human mind: the desire to see animals on a more equal footing with people. It’s existed since the beginning of time in prehistoric cave paintings, ancient gods, and tribal rituals. It lives on today - not just in the sports mascots and cartoon characters we see everywhere, but in stage plays, art galleries, serious literature, performance art, and among furry fans who bring their make-believe characters to life digitally, on paper, or in the carefully crafted fur suits they wear to become the animals of their imagination.

In Furry Nation, author Joe Strike shares the very human story of the people who created furry fandom, the many forms it takes - from the joyfully public to the deeply personal - and how Furry transformed his own life.

I absolutely love this book. It is the “purr-fect” guide to discovering the History, The Legacy and the Current issues of the Furry Community without feeling one sided.

There are a few editing hiccups in the recording (a few sentences repeating and the occasional volume fluctuations) but it is still a joy to listen to. I am definitely going recommend this book to my friends and family who are curious about the fandom.

The must have guide to anyone who want to know what a Furry is.

One of the best places to learn about the furry fandom. Great book and would read again.

Best furry book

If you identify as a fur and haven't read/listened to this book, you're just a poser. The narrator is AWFUL, speaking too fast, mispronouncing TONS of words and repeating sentences constantly. If you can get through all of that and slow your player down 15%, you'll do ok. The story itself is an ABSOLUTE MUST LISTEN/ READ. You cannot be a fur and willingly ignore the history of those who laid out the path for you!

HORRID NARRATION, GREAT STORY

The content is great! however, the narrator made several pronouciation errors that hurt listening enjoyment.

bad narrator

this was a good overview of the Fur community. There was a bit of audio stuttering, but it didn't hurt the listening

some studdering in the playback, overall great

I’ve been putting off reading this book for months now. The topic is interesting, but I couldn’t finish the book because the narration is awful.

I love how they cover all of Curry life, culture and history. they don't shy away from what's someone called the dark seedy side of furry or all variant types of furry life. It even showed part of furry that I have no clue about.

Living the furry life

Without a doubt the best put together book regarding the furry fandom. Awesome and comprehensive ranging from early bootlegs of kimba all the way to zootopia. The narrator is very green and made some mistakes but not bad.

A grey muzzle's history lesson.

The info is good, the writing good and the overall vibe good, but the narration is very poor. the narrator, really sounds like they are reading a script they have no interest or understanding of and are just reading every word as it ticks by, chapter titles and intros are indistinguishable from the last sentence of the previous paragraph. Had to rewind multiple times to figure out “what was happening” in the context of stopping and starting points. No inflection or pauses.

monotonous, run together narration
