About this listen

Twenty-two-year-old Garnet Adams longs to marry and have a houseful of children. Forced to support her widowed mother, she embraces her role as a teacher, although the Carrie Town board of education's rules for female teachers leave no opportunity for a social life. She contents herself playing the violin at church.

Tall, bearded, and rough around the edges, Deputy Noah Scott would rather hunt than socialize. Garnet thinks he’s a rude, insensitive drifter, and Noah's sure the last person he'd want to court is a schoolmarm - especially with her unladylike sneeze. As the needs of her students bring them together, opposites seem to attract until a certain Christmas present derails their future.

This was a very enjoyable story! And I enjoyed the narration as well! The Christmas gift added a nice twist!

Christian Historical Romance

Each chapter has one of the rules that schoolmarms had to follow which are hard to believe by today's standards.
Garnet has little choice but to work as a school teacher in order to support her mother and her aunt.
The deputy in town, Noah, isn't interested in schoolmarms or courting. Garnet isn't what he expected, though, and he finds himself increasingly intrigued. The story is sweet and has an enjoyable, romantic happily-ever-after

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

[The narrator does a good job with the different characters' voices and reading naturally]

Garnet’s Gift is a delightful story with realistic characters and a believable storyline. It is well written and flows nicely. The performer was fabulous in her narration. Her voice changes for characters and even singing were great.

Delightful

Garnet is a school teacher who must work to help support her mother and her aunt. Every chapter begins with one of the rules for schoolmarms, which I found interesting and often terribly unfair.

Noah is the deputy in town. He isn’t interested in settling down, and especially not with a straight-laced school teacher. But Garnet surprises him because she is very different from what he had expected.

This is a tender romance that gently moves along. There isn’t a lot of tension until about the fourteenth chapter. It’s a sweet story that has a romantic ending readers will enjoy.

I enjoyed listening to this book.
The rules that were in place for teachers were strict, especially for women. A lot of research went into this book and it shows. Kimberly Grist wrote a fantastic story. Lorena Hoopes did a fantastic job narrating the story.

This story is an adorable story of two people floundering in life to make things the best they can. Doubts fly, confusion and then answers, lots of cute humor and enough realness to the characters to make them believable. If you are looking for a short read or listen, that is sweet and heartwarming, this is the book for you!! And I loved all the rules of the School teacher! Nice touch!

Sweet and swift!

Enjoyed the book and recommend it to all that like a clean Romance. Lorana did a wonderful job. Small town teacher with rules and a sheriff deputy struggling with the rules for teachers.
