About this listen

Acclaimed for the depth and breadth of his fictional universe, best-selling SF and fantasy writer Simon Green is the author of the popular Twilight of the Empire and Deathwalker series.

In Ghost of a Smile, the Ghost Finders answer a desperate call for help from one of the world’s biggest drug companies. A team of police enforcement agents has already disappeared, and the Ghost Finders have no idea how to proceed. But they’d better figure something out fast, because time is running out—and failure means an entire building full of innocent victims will cease to exist.

More Interesting then book 1

I enjoyed this story much more then book 1 but do have to say book 1 set up the characters well for book 2. I have read this author before on a different series with I like immensely and that is why I purchased these 2 books in the first place.

Ghost Finder, another good Simon R Green series

Simon R Green, prolific author of the Nightside and Secret Histories series scores another hit with the Ghost Finders. Ghost of a smile is the sequel to Ghost of a Chance and in order to understand much of what is going on here, you should really listen to (or read) Ghost of a Chance first. The protagonists, each somewhat off putting on the surface, have a much deeper depth of character and come together to become a cohesive and compassionate team who truly care for each other. The ending leaves no doubt more is to follow, and I look forward to the next installment. Whether or not you are lucky enough to be a fan of Green, I highly recommend this series.

Another Simon Green

If you could sum up Ghost of A Smile in three words, what would they be?

Another Simon Green. Dialogue and characters are the usual ones in Green???s books. There are no surprises but it is an enjoyable Green book but with a cliff hanger.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ghost of A Smile?

The love scene with the ghost and ghost buster.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no

Any additional comments?

I do not like cliff hangers. If I had known that I would not have purchased it.

I'm a Simon R Green fan

If you are too, you won't be disappointed, there is some dry humor, and some really nasty scary situations, that the ghost hunters endure. I'm enjoying this series (this is book 2) can't wait for the next installment. I think the narrator does a fine job with the voice inflections, so I find it easy to follow who's talking. If you are a SRG fan I thing it's well worth a listen.

Another great series from Simon R Green.

This is a great second story from the new Ghost Finder series. Ghost of a smile really builds on the original characters of Ghost of a chance, fleshing out the four central characters and providing more of a look at those around them. The story of Ghost of a smile provides a lot of room for expansion bringing in several new plots and sub plots that will probably form the basis of what could be a really great series. The only negative I could say about this book is that Simon R Greens' sense of humour is a little bit British and may not appeal to all. But if you liked The Nightside or The Secret Histories you'll love Ghost Finders.

Incredibly Stupid

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I'm not sure if this is meant to be a "Young Adult" novel, but I think even my 17-year-old niece would find it too stupid. It started off okay, but then quickly devolved into one cliche after another. I finally quit about halfway through. I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't hack it. The reader, Toby Leonard Moore, however, was excellent. Don't blame him!

Would you ever listen to anything by Simon R. Green again?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Toby Leonard Moore?

Nobody.

What character would you cut from Ghost of A Smile?

All of them?

Any additional comments?

Just too cliche.
