Publisher's summary

Jane Madison has a problem. Or two. Or three. She’s unhappily working as a librarian. She has a crush on her oblivious Imaginary Boyfriend. And she just learned she won’t receive a well-deserved raise; instead, she can live for free in a cottage on the library grounds. When Jane settles into her new home, she discovers a hidden chamber lined with ancient books about witchcraft. Her first spell awakens a feline familiar. Her second makes her irresistible to men. Those magical workings attract a sexy magical warder, and Jane’s life is quickly turned upside down. Does Jane have what it takes to become a real witch?

Cute story, awful narrator!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This was a light, entertaining book. The story flowed well and kept my interest.

What didn’t you like about Emma Galvin’s performance?

The narrator doesn't seem to understand the purpose of periods and commas. There were many times that the end of one sentence became part of the next sentence, changing the meaning. If you record the next book in the series, please use a different narrator.

Good story

I like the story and the narrator. It is reminiscent of the Molly Harper series but different. I like the law court series. I want more of it.

listen to the reviews

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No! The story was alright but the reader sucked big time....

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I knew the ending..... before half way.....through.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Galvin?

Anyone would have done better. I will never buy another that she reads.

Fun quirky story

Cute story, 3rd grader learning to read narration. I don’t understand how Emma Galvan was chosen for the rest of the books in this series. I won’t be purchasing any more of this series because of the narrator. I gave the narrator a 1 because I can’t submit this review without a rating. The rating I would give this narrator is a negative 4.

Struggled to finish listening to the book.

Narration was not fluent. There were constant pauses in the middle of sentences. Narrator sounds like a teenager with immature reading skills.

Cute

Love the narrator. Love the familiar. Main character's day dreams are a bit too long for me. Overall, cute story.

Worst reading and narration ever.

The story is engaging but the reader is the worst I’ve ever heard. She uses strange and unnatural breaks in cadence and it is so distracting. I could only get through this book by listening at 1.6 speed. Ugh. P

Cute Story

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a cute story, but time would have been better spend reading it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I liked the story, but the narrator made is difficult. She reminded me of being in high school English and having someone read a passage from the text book. Very little emotion, pauses in the wrong spots ad stumbles. I think this would be much better if it had read it vs. listened to it.

Annoying narrator

Fun story with a terrible narrator. Enjoyable characters, wish someone else was reading. It almost sounds like an AI is reading, with unusual stops and starts, lack of fluency.

Better to read the book

I read the actual book and loved it. The performance ruins the story. Her stops and starts during a sentence is more than teeth grinding. No inflection or emotion. The performer sounds like she’s 13 reading her big sister’s book out loud to a friend. I’m sorry to have wasted the credit. I’ll read the actual book again to truly appreciate a good story.
