About this listen

Three Urban Audiobooks authors have teamed up to bring the drama in this latest installment of the popular Girls from Da Hood series.

Get It, Get It! by Ms. Michel Moore: Monica was conceived on a pile of dirty clothes in the corner of a trap house. Cursed with a mother who worshiped the crack pipe more than her children, she quickly learned a Detroit reality: Get it how you live or die trying. The young teenager is forced to beg, borrow, and steal to make sure she and her siblings survive to see another day. Cutthroat and conniving, Monica will make it no matter who she has to step on or step over.

You Can't Break Us by Treasure Hernandez: Voodo and his girl, Moni, are inseparable. Like a modern Bonnie and Clyde from the hood, they let no one, even family, get in their way. When the people they do "around the way" business with turn out to be verified snakes, the ruthless couple gets revenge the only way they know how: street justice. With the law in hot pursuit, it's Voodo and Moni against the world, just like they always knew it would be.

So Far Gone by Katt: Sometimes love is the best feeling in the world, but the wrong kind of love can turn you into an entirely different person. When good girl turned bad Renee gets together with Keithon, it's them against the world until the streets get to talking and their fairy-tale relationship turns into a full-blown nightmare. Karma steps in and has her way with the couple, and their lives will never be the same.

The reader was absolutely terrible and almost messed up a really good book. She was really illiterate and that sucked!

I just want to know how I can get into being a narrator because I know I would do awesome.

I am not one to leave book reviews but the narrator is terrible and makes what could be a decent book extremely hard to listen to. I’m trying to finish the book but don’t think I can. Narrators can make or break an author’s hard work🤷🏾‍♀️

Terrible Narrator!!

I’m sorry but a poor choice in narrator ruins the entire experience for me. I can tell the narrator has a beautiful speaking voice but her accent was not a match for the stories. Some words I had to figure out because her beautiful accent was too thick. As far as the story goes, I wasn’t wowed by any of the 3. The last story had so much potential then it kinda goes left and never recovers. I want so badly for these stories to go back to the hood theme with scamming and suspense that they used to be. Let’s get back to ol girl that got dropped off in Mexico!

Poor choice in narrator

Ok first thing is the book isn’t bad. However the narrator needs some work. I detect an accent but I’m ok with that. It’s the simplest words that are being mispronounced. It made it hard to get through the book.

The narrator 😑

I felt like I was listening to my 6 year olds read to me. I had to stop, which sucks because the storyline was good but the narrator absolutely awful.

Bruh…

the narrator blew the storytelling, her reading had no soul, hood or gangsta to make these stories even convincing enough to let your imagination run with it. I tried to complete this book but her voice is a turn off.

Don't waste your money or credit!!!

I didn’t care for the narrator or the storylines in this edition of Girls from da Hood

Lackluster

The narrator was the worst. She could not pronounce words correctly. She had odd pauses in the middle of the sentences. It was almost as if she couldn’t read at all. It was hard at times to follow the story because of thinking how bad this person reads.

The narrator was the worst I’ve ever heard.
