About this listen
The incredible and inspiring story of Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter basketball has ever seen, and the ascension of the Golden State Warriors, a team on the verge of being an NBA dynasty, by longtime Warriors beat reporter and Bay Area News Group sports columnist Marcus Thompson.
When it comes to Stephen Curry - point guard for the Golden State Warriors and reigning MVP of the NBA - journalists, fans, and sports analysts are running out of ways to say "wow". Deemed too small and too short at 6'3" and 180 pounds by NBA coaches around the league, Curry has taken the game back from the bigger men who usually dominate the court. With his incredible shooting ability that started a "three-point revolution", he led the Warriors to 73 wins in the 2015-2016 season, beating out Michael Jordan and the 1996 Chicago Bulls' longtime record.

One of today’s most sought-after NBA superstars was once a young boy who was perceived as weak. Despite this negative impression, he has managed to rise from his simple life in North Carolina into becoming one of the sharpest shooters in the history of the NBA. Stephen Curry’s journey to become one of the NBA’s legends has been tough and rocky. He might be the son of an NBA veteran, yet his journey towards his dreams was not smooth. He also had his fair share of rejections and doubts - both from his own self and others.

The definitive biography of a legendary athlete. The Shrug. The Shot. The Flu Game. When most people think of him, they think of his beautiful shots with the game on the line, his body totally in sync with the ball - hitting nothing but net. But for all his greatness, this scion of a complex family from North Carolina's Coastal Plain has a darker side: He's a ruthless competitor and a lover of high stakes. There's never been a biography that encompassed the dual nature of his character and looked so deeply at Jordan on and off the court - until now.

In KG: A to Z, published ahead of Garnett’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, he looks back on his life and career with the same raw candor.

The Golden State Warriors dominated the NBA for the better part of a decade. Since the arrival of owner Joe Lacob, they won more championships and sold more merchandise than any other franchise in the sport. And in 2019, they opened the doors on a lavish new stadium. Yet all this success contained some of the seeds of decline. Ethan Sherwood Strauss' clear-eyed exposé reveals the team's culture, its financial ambitions and struggles, and the price that its players and managers have paid for all their winning.

By 2002, The Streak - a historic 13-year run of consecutive wins by the Spartans, a high-school football team from Concord, California, that couldn't be beat - was still going strong. In this revised edition of When the Game Stands Tall, author Neil Hayes, who had unrestricted access to the De La Salle team, writes from the inside about the games, the players, and their visionary coach, Bob Ladouceur, who managed to amass the highest winning percentage in football history (.995) through standing for something greater than winning.

Pistol is more than the biography of a ballplayer. It's the stuff of classic novels: the story of a boy transformed by his father's dream and the cost of that dream. Even as Pete Maravich became Pistol Pete, a basketball icon for baby boomers, all the Maraviches paid a price. Now acclaimed author Mark Kriegel has brilliantly captured the saga of an American family: its rise, its apparent ruin, and, finally, its redemption.

An Audiobook Narrator Who Can Pronounce Athlete’s Names!
The book is fantastic and gives a beautiful window into Curry’s character and brilliance, but I gotta give a big shout out to Caz the narrator because after listening to multiple sports audiobooks where the narrator butchers just about every athlete’s name, it was so refreshing to hear him smoothly read every player’s name correctly AND deliver the book in a pleasing, professional manner. Big ups!

Amazing!!!
This was my first time listening to a book being read instead of reading it myself (which I still might do) I really enjoyed listening to this book learning about the upbringing of Steph. Learning about his relationship with the church and his mother really shows you why Curry is the man he appears to be.
My one minor knock on the book was it seemed at times repetitive. As if Marcus wrote each chapter to be its own stand alone article for ESPN or some other sports news outlet. Each time needing to reintroduces to Currys amazing exploits. I did not mind this at all, just something I noticed.
I would give 10 stars if I could though fantastic!!!

A must read by Marcus Thompson
Written in 2017 but just finished reading after the Warriors won their ;4th championship. The author has captured why Steph is the glue that has helped this franchise to its success with his unselfish style, dedication to improve and willingness to take a back seat during the Durant years. Steph and the Warriors are where they are now in 2022 because of Steph. More to come from Steph and the Warriors. Can’t wait for the next edition by Marcus Thompson.
Steph is the face of the NBA now and a role model that all children should know about as to how his has shared his success off the court ad as well as on. Great Father, husband , mentor and leader. No other NBA legend can live up to what Steph is still writing as a complete person at all levels of life.

Eh...
Any additional comments?
Very, very corny at times. Almost to the point that it's like a children's book. The narrator is perfect for this kind of book, but it didn't really live up to my expectations. I was thinking there would be more in depth stories on who Steph is as a person and whatnot. It was more of a breakdown of his games and what was going on in more detail. It also skipped all over the place. It goes from a playoff game to his childhood, to another playoff game, to meeting his wife. Could've been better, but it definitely wasn't terrible and I did learn a lot about Steph in general, but I didn't know an insane amount about him to begin with. So use that information as you please.
