About this listen

Has pregnancy affected Brianna's psychic abilities? When Doc Myers, her mother's boyfriend, who also happens to be Brianna's boss, is kidnapped and a respected member of the community turns up dead, this medium doesn't have a clue. It's hard to fight crime when you're fighting 24/7 morning sickness. With ghosts only talking in riddles, Brianna must rely on old-fashioned sleuthing and her intuition to find Doc and stop the murders.

Gone Fishing in Lottawatah is the 14th book in the Brianna Sullivan mystery series. Join Brianna, Cooper, Beverly, Julia, and, of course, Leon, her adorable bulldog with the wonky digestive tract, on a roller coaster of a mystery ride, full of thrills, chills, and, yes, even romance.

This is my first dip into the Brianna Sullivan series. Though it is book 14, it stands up well on its own. I don't feel I missed any backstory to this plot at all.

In Gone Fishing, Brianna is a newish bride and expectant mother living in a small town. She works for the town mortuary (but not with the icky stuff) and her husband is chief of police. She comes from a long line of sensitives. Brianna and her grandmother are mediums and her mother is good at 'finding things'.

Brianna takes her gift in stride, sorting through requests for help from long-time ghosts and more urgent demands of the newly or nearly dead. Fortunately, her husband groks her and accepts her help in solving crime - up to a point. I mean, she's pregnant and isn't endangering only herself when she takes (quite a few) risks.

It's a fun listen. Ms. David has created distinct characters and an engaging, but not overly complex plotline. This is the first in the series for narrator Cindy Piller and she does a great job. Her delivery is quick and bright and she has a great grasp of the humor. She's on point with her characters. I hope Cindy and the series continue for years to come.

I certainly can recommend this one for any escapists out there.

Imagine being a Medium & working with DBs all day!
