About this listen

In 1972, the town of DeClare, Oklahoma, was consumed by the terrifying murder of Gaylene Harjo and the disappearance of her baby, Nicky Jack. When the child's pajama bottoms were found on the banks of Willow Creek, everyone feared Nicky Jack was dead, although his body was never found.

Nearly 30 years later, Nicky Jack mysteriously returns to DeClare. His sudden reappearance will stun the people of DeClare and stir up long-buried emotions and memories. But what Nicky Jack discovers among the people who remember the night he vanished is far more than he, or anyone, bargains for. Piece by piece, what emerges is a story of dashed hopes, desperate love, and a shocking act with repercussions that will cry out for justice...and redemption.

Full of the authentic heartland characters that Billie Letts writes about so beautifully, Shoot the Moon is a hypnotic tale filled with suspense and emotional truth. It further establishes Billie Letts as an American writer to be reckoned with, an original storyteller whose words go straight to our heart.

Good read

I had read Billie Letts several years ago and remembered liking her writing style. So while on search for a new book I found this one.

It was a great read. I really enjoy her writing style. She had me fooled until the end. The narration was good as well. There are often times I am not able to listen to a book due to the narrator, this one was a good listen.

absolutely joyous

Believable characters, good contrast between contemporary American city life and small-town life. Enjoyable from start to finish.

A very enjoyable read

I am a Billie Letts fan and always enjoy her quirky characters and the small-town southern feel her books provide. I also enjoy a good mystery and this one has some of that too. No, this book will probably not change your life or alter your perspective on the world, but if you are looking for a nice, well-told story, this should fit the bill.

Beautiful!

Nothing could have prepared me for the story that unfolded.
Narration done expertly. Every feeling was brought out for each character in this bittersweet story.

A small town whodunnit

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I purchased this book because I am a big fan of Billy Letts other story, Where the Heart Is. This book drew me in, however, I was not a fan of the ending or the romantic story in it.

Excellent story

This was a great audio book! The performance by the reader was amazing at bringing out the personality of each character. I am absolutely impressed by all the different voices being done by one person. By far one of the best audio books I’ve listened to. The story had so many twists and turns that you almost feel as desperate as the main character was. Thank you.

Shoot The Moon

This book has brought me back to the roots that I was raised by. Seek the truth, even thou it can hurt.
This was another one of Billie Letts fine books about the human spirit.
Thanks Billie...
