About this listen

What happens when a grease-stained mechanic walks into a luxury car showroom?

Eddie Martinez isn’t supposed to belong at Westview Autohaus. He’s got oil on his shirt, scuffed boots, and an attitude that doesn’t mesh with marble floors or silent, spotless sports cars. But he’s not here to impress anyone - he’s here to fix a rickety old Benz.

Natasha Lin, assistant manager with a no-nonsense stare and a cat named David who hisses on sight, is very clear: Eddie is not showroom material.

What follows is an unexpected clash between two people who couldn’t seem more different - one all polish and precision, the other all grit and heart. But underneath the banter and sarcasm, something sparks.

Grease and Sparks is a smart, slow-burn romance about pride, preconceptions, and what happens when opposites refuse to stay apart. If you love enemies-to-lovers tension, clever dialogue, and cats with serious attitude, you’ll want to listen to this.

Because sometimes, the wrong first impression leads to exactly the right story.

The narrator sounds like she’s recording in a closet; there’s an echo and constant scuffs against the mic. It also seems like she gets the words wrong, like when she says “Eddie reached out indestinctively” when I think she meant indecisively.

The story itself is cute and low angst, a lovely, cozy, standalone listen.

Narration drove me nuts

When grease meets class is a charming short story. Even the cat stops hissing.
