Classic Westerns Well-told

Great stories. The narrators were true to the spirit of the tales. I recommend it heartily for those needing old charms.

Great collection

The collection of short stories was well curated, an excellent blend of humor and excitement. Modern readers will have little trouble with outdated terms, etc. Bronson Pinchot is my new favorite narrator, perfect pace, great voices.

2.5

Narrated by Bronson Pinchot, Meredith Mitchell, Richard Waterhouse
Run Time: 6 hrs and 30 mins
Genre: Westerns
Summary:
A collection of classic Westerns.

Additional Comments:
• It felt like a lot of these were incomplete.
• Having three different narrators fit the fact that the stories were way different from each other.
• I don’t feel like I gained anything by hearing these tales.
• Most were completely forgettable.
• I couldn’t name one character from the book. I know there were several. I maybe recall one or two but it’s only as the sad lady who had a misunderstanding.
• Performances worked. All narrators did well with their respective tales.
• The first tale kind of blithered on. Not sure why I didn’t just file this under DNF and move on.

Conclusion:
I’m a fan of Westerns, but this got boring.
*Audible plus read.

A few greats, a few misfires

Some tales are better than others which also holds true of the performances.

Free to me, I gifted to another. I do wish I would have listened through before the gifting; else I would have chosen a stronger blend of tales and tellers.

Poor compilation

Some of the stories in this collection are good western tales, but only a few. Some others barely quality as western and others, in my opinion, don't qualify at all. Some are written in a style closer to Poe than to the great western authors like Grey or Lamour. Overall I would not recommend this collection to those expecting great WESTERNS.

It’s hard to rate a collection of short stories, but

It’s hard to rate a collection of short stories, but I can easily say that I would not listen to this audiobook again. The only story I actually liked was the last one, and that story alone increased my rating from one star to two stars.

The main narrator's voice will cure insomnia

He is so slow and soft-spoken that hearing his voice made me have to fight to stay awake in the middle of the day. The female narrator and one of the males were okay, but the stories they read were awful and/or not Westerns. The only decent stories are read by the Sandman, so it's nearly impossible to get through.
