About this listen

Tom Kedrick is hired by a financial syndicate to run off a gang of vagrants and outlaws who are occupying a sizable strip of land that the syndicate has filed, claiming it is unusable swamp. To Kedrick's dismay, these "vagrants and outlaws" turn out to be hard working ranchers and farmers who have improved the lands they have claimed and are determined to resist any effort to disenfranchise them.©1950 Best Productions, Inc. Free is Free…

One of the better free Louis L’Amour books with your Audible subscription… it is a Louis L’Amour after all and we all know how 99.5% of them end but the getting there is the fun part…

Reliably Louis L'Amour

Typical western. I listen to these when I want strong characters in good against evil stories. Narrator was perfect for a western.

Gritty. Tender. Compelling.

Grover Gardner brings to life a story with all the twists of plot and intriguing characters that are trademarks of the great Louis L'Amour!

Narration & Performance.

When Louis l’Amour rides them, they’re generally good
stories. When Grover Gardner performs them, they’re generally great stories!

Vintage L'Amour

I liked this book when I read it (many) years ago. As I remember, the story, the Audio book has the same flavor. For me, it come across as nostalgia on the go. I grew up on L'Amour, and I have several of his (Audio) books. The audio books give me the chance to relive the "old west" in a new way. I'm satisfied with all the 'Audio Books' I've downloaded so far. My advice is "Give it a try". I won't say its 5 stars, cause nothin's perfect, but it's a good listen.

A narrated western movie

Listening to this book is the equivalent of watching a western movie from the 50s. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just a type.

It’s straight forward, the good guy is the good guy and of course he gets the girl in the end. It’s entertaining enough if you need entertainment, and I need it badly right now.
