About this listen

Here are Western stories with an adult sensibility - complex tales of difficult choices and moral dilemmas played out against the backdrop of frontier America. William Conrad is Marshal Matt Dillon in 20 thoughtful, exciting episodes of Gunsmoke!

Howard McNear co-stars as Doc, with Parley Baer as Chester, and Georgia Ellis as Kitty in these broadcasts from 1954-1955. They are joined by John Dehner, Virginia Gregg, Joseph Kearns, Jeanette Nolan, and more, who bring tales of saloons and stage holdups, bullet wounds, and blood feuds to vivid life.

Includes a program guide by Ivan G. Shreve, Jr.

Nice collection of old radio shows

This was a nice mix of stories. My only previous experience was watching the TV show with my dad, so these do seem a little more one-dimensional. The first few episodes did carry a very similar plot and it is amazing how quick everyone is to shoot. Guess not a lot has changed in America. There are some more interesting, complex episodes later in the collection.

For some reason I need to go smoke a Chesterfield cigarette now.
