Publisher's summary

Set in Dodge City, Kansas, during the thriving cattle days of the 1870s, the Gunsmoke radio show was routinely called by radio drama enthusiasts “the best show of any kind and any time”.

For nine years from 1952 to 1961, Gunsmoke dominated the airwaves as it portrayed the epic legend of the American West. The lead character of Marshall Matt Dillon, as played by William Conrad, was called the “Philip Marlowe of the Old West”. Besides Conrad, the superb supporting cast included Parley Baer as Chester, Howard McNear as Doc Adams, and Georgia Ellis as Miss Kitty.

After ending its nine-year run on radio, Gunsmoke made the transition to television, where it ran for 20 years.

Good old time radio.

Good old time radio program. Granted, there are limits to the amount of plot lines and character actors. But it's STILL a terrific bargain. Note: These episodes can also be found for free on archive, but I like the way they are organized on audible.

My one big problem is that the title is misleading. These are NOT commercial free episodes ... so I docked a star for that reason.

So cool

Can not wait till season 2 comes out . Takes you back in time to how the show was so good the mind could see what’s going on if you closed your eyes . Now some parts do slow it is Recording a radio show so there is some falls and stumbles on audio . But way worth listening to

fiat out lied on the cover of this season 1

this is not commercial free it says commercial free but it's not it's got several commercials they trick you into buying it the first 9 hours are commercial free and then the other 18 hours are full of tons of commercials I mean seriously it starts with like three commercials then it in the middle there's like two or three commercials and then right before the end there's two or three commercials for each episode so that's so that's 9 commercials per episode after you get past the first 9 hours where they trick you into buying it thinking you're going to get commercial free and then you think just as you're starting to get comfortable with nice quality and no commercials then BAM!!!! I MEAN Goodness so many commercials what a rip-off,!!!!!!!! I do still love Gunsmoke but these commercials are horribleyou should not have to have commercials once you buy that whole season
