About this listen

Fletcher Moon has never been like other kids. For one thing, he has had to suffer the humiliating nickname "Half Moon" because of his short stature. But the real reason Fletcher is different is that ever since he was a baby, he's had a nose for sniffing out mysteries. And let's just say, it's not a skill that has been appreciated by many people, including his own family.

That doesn't bother Fletcher, though. After graduating at the top of his Internet class, he is officially certified as the youngest detective in the world. He even has a silver-plated detective's badge to prove it. Everything is going along fine until two things happen: a classmate hires him to solve a crime, and his prized badge is stolen. All signs point to the town's most notorious crime family, the Sharkeys.

As Fletcher follows the clues, evidence of a conspiracy begins to emerge. But before he can crack the case, Fletcher finds himself framed for a serious crime. To clear his name, he will have to pair up with the unlikeliest of allies and go on the run from the authorities. Fletcher has 12 hours to find the guilty party, or he is the guilty party.

Not Artemis

This book is no where near as good as the Artemis Fowl Series. It is a lot like Encyclopedia Brown. It was entertaining but nothing special. I think my 8 year old son will like it, but adults may find it a bit dull.

Pretty good, not as good as Artemis Fowl

I have to say, I loved Artemis Fowl! It was entertaining enough, that the adult enjoyed it, too. This one, the kids enjoyed, but I got bored of.

A true competitor for Artemis

I am a fan of the Artemis Fowl series which I discovered two years ago. Since then, I read other books by Eoin Colfer, but I have aways been slightly disapointed. With Half-Moon investigation, I found again the pleasure to discover a well presented plot, to appreciate the great sense of humour of the author, and to follow the adventures of a very attaching boy nicknamed Half-Moon, who gets hired by class mates to investigate thefts.

The book is very clearly read, which is very important for me, as I am not an English native speaker. The reader manages to make clear differences between the characters, and to convey the magic of Eoin Colfer in full. A great performance.

I really hope Mr Colfer will write other Half-Moon stories.

Worth the listen!

Great humor! Catches in great accuracy the mind of young boys. I was chuckling out loud during many parts. From mystery to good humor and great liners. This is worth the listen.
