About this listen

Celebrate with three short Halloween stories that each have a different twist. Each of the Halloween tales is self contained and lasts for about one hour.

"Dead and in Working Order"
Shortly after discovering an ancient grave, Amon's sister disappeared. Twenty years later she arrives at his doorstep, screaming at full pitch. The plea for help draws him into a world where danger shuffles behind every corner.

"Masonic Werewolves"
An exclusive order in a secret society looks to initiate a new member. The new member must learn what it means to be part of a unique brotherhood, especially one that isn't fully human.

"Quirks in the Misty Murks"
Jace used to love fishing in the morning. That was until a deer stood up on its back legs and began walking into the mist. Curiosity pushed Jace to investigate the creature, but what will help push him back to life he used to know?

Not quite as good as the first still good

I liked these, but not as much as the first set. These tended to be both stranger and scarier. They aren’t bad but nowhere near as lighthearted as the first set. That said these are still fun just probably listen without the kids.

3 masterful zany shorts

James Livingood is a master of zany little short stories that are just enough off the beaten path to make them odd, Interesting and highly entertaining. Check Out these three as well
As all his others you will be highly entertained. The first of these tales gives an explanation for the leaps of technological advancements that society makes....of course its not how you would expect it to be. The 2nd is about a pack of werewolves and the Masonic order that they run. The third will remind you of the troll market from hellboy 2 and what may have happened had a regular human stumbles upon it. Great and exactly what I expected and hoped they’d be. Enjoy them and his other works as well. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Not What I was Expecting....

Three different stories, each one with a different monster and narrator.

I didn't care for the first story. Dead and in Working Order. With the description I thought it was going to have a lot more humor. My mistake. I was hoping for more of an ending instead of how it ended.

The second story, Masonic Werewolves, was fun. It didn't follow the normally predictable patterns and had a nice ending.

The third story, Quirks in the Misty Murks, was different. I guess I've not heard of Quirks before.

All in all, an enjoyable listen. I'm curious to hear Halloween Party 1 and see what other interesting monsters and stories it holds.

Twisty stories with straight-up morals

I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this! All three stories had unexpected twists or consequences. The first story was a little darker than the last two, but they all had surprise themes or moral points that made them worth thinking about for a while after you’re done listening. Those are the kind of stories I like. The narrators were all pretty good, and sounded appropriate for their characters.

Interesting and cute children stories

Another cute short stories from this author, different narrators then the first ones had.

I quite enjoyed it, and think that children would enjoy listening to this book, especially during power outages or a long drive/trip.

The stories were well written and didnt linger too long on descriptions. The narrators did a good job, listening to the accents and whatnot kept it interesting.

Great, but not as good as the first one

This was a mixed bag. The second two stories were very funny, and much in keeping with the first Halloween Party book. The first was more of a speculative fiction, and was a little hard to get into because the narrator had little character to his reading, as well as a heavy accent. Because of the first story, this book only merits four out of five stars from me. On the bright side though, if the author put more work into the first story, it could be turned into a serious piece of fiction. If it is brought to audio however, I recommend a different narrator. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Worth the read

I enjoyed 2 out of 3 stories in this collection. Dead and in working order was a new look on life. I thought the brother was losing his mind but this kept me intrigued. Masonic Werewolves was my favorite story. From beginning to end I needed to know what was going to happen next. Well written and narrated. And finally Quirks in the Misty Murks could not hold my interest. I was as lost as the main character. Overall 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I would definitely recommend this author to friends and relatives.

Halloween Party 2

This set contains three short stories that are more serious than the first books. They are an interesting mix of characters and plots. These stories are for those that are looking for tales leaning more on the thriller side than the horror genre. Each narrator does a good job of pulling the listener into the world and keeping you engaged.
