The story of a young illegitimate son of a Norman noble and the daughter of an English housecarl. Forced to be little more than a servant Robert fitz Malet shows the world and his half brothers that he has qualities which mark him as different. Short but we'll paced

Rarely does an author find such a great balance of historical accuracy and great pacing. I wish this and the sequel were one book, but I am so pleased I will buy that one as well. Dear author if you read this, thank you for not diminishing the protagonist star by muddy the waters with immorality, and thank you for being respectful of piety of people at that time instead of taking the well trodden disdainful view of all religion.
