Publisher's summary

Tom Slemen does it yet again...in his Haunted Liverpool 19, the extraordinary writer and researcher brings us another volume of strange, mystifying, and downright bizarre tales of the unknown and the supernatural. In this spine-chilling book you will hear of a zombie army, a creepy cannibalistic entity who lives behind the walls of a house off Liverpool's Oxford Street, a reaper-like apparition which stalked two security guards at a factory in Fazakerley, the phantom monks of Childwall who dragged a young woman from her bed...plus:

  • The Tuebrook carpenter who was forced to build a double coffin so a dead occultist could be buried with his living wife....
  • The terrifying ghoul of a spinster who terrorized a teenager who had sex on her grave....
  • The sad but fascinating story of a Liverpool student who moved in and out of a parallel world where he met - then lost - the love of his life....
  • More incredible accounts of Liverpool timeslips....
  • The weird accounts of the unidentified creatures at large in Liverpool today, which are termed "Anonyma"....
  • The creepy account of the psychopathic ghost who haunted a woman's car - and attempted to assault her....
  • The incredible story of Maggie May - the world famous prostitute who still haunts Liverpool....
  • Huyton's Ghostly Highwayman....
  • The chilling full story of the Witch of Walton....

All of this plus many, many more scary stories from the master storyteller Tom Slemen!

More Mayhem from the Master

This is another fascinating collection of strange, weird and unusual true tales in the Haunted Liverpool series. If you enjoy books like this like I do, Tom Slemen stands apart from the rest. You won't find these tales anywhere else. His extensive research proves that truth is stranger than fiction. These books are very addicting. I read this using immersion reading, while listening to the attendant audio book. It was narrated by Nigel Peever, whose colorful voice and brilliant voicework bring this book to life. His accents are spot on. Do note that the audio book has sound effects. This was the first edition I had heard with them and they become a wonderful part of the story after I got use to them. Enjoy and prepare to be spooked!

Thought provoking

This one gave me pause and made me think a bit instead of mindlessly listening. As I pondered the stories, I thought some of them could be possible. I've often thought about alternative (parallel) universes. Intriguing and interesting. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Little of this, little of this

The good- narration. Nigel Peever immediately brings to mind the actor Vincent Price, in both tone and inflection. He reads with a kind of creepy joy that really couldn’t be matched by anyone else.

The bad- story selection. There are many stories here that would fit in the author’s other series better. Not here. Many stories have nothing to do with hauntings at all. They are all presented more like works of fiction, rather than the true tales that they purport to be.

The ugly- sound effects. The stories are “ enhanced” by music and sound effects that just completely detract from the performance.

Another Great Collection by Slemen

Slemen does a great job telling these ghost stories and they are a lot of fun to listen to, although this volume had some of my favorite stories that I have heard yet. I really enjoyed the timeslip stories. My favorite was story 7, as this one was a bit more science fiction than horror, although I thought that horror really was in the red haired girlfriend and the thought of her being the true soulmate. I liked hearing Slemen’s thoughts on alternate universes, something that I have long thought about.

I’m a big fan of Nigel Peever’s production and am in awe at the amount of effort he puts into them. Peever does such a great job with these stories and his voices and accents really bring each story to life. He really provides the shine to these stories. All the extra sound effects added to the story make it a wonderful listen that is a must to experience.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Can’t get enough of these stories

Such a variety of “not all ghosts” stories, but everything so paranormal and as scary as a haunt!! Love this!
