About this listen

Have Gun Will Travel was a Western adventure radio show that started on ABC in November 1958, just a year after its television version aired. At first the scripts for the radio show were derived from those of the television show, making the episodes in sync with one another. Later, though, the radio show started making scripts on its own. The story is about guns for hire, with the main character being Paladin, played by John Denner. Despite the nature of the job, Paladin is in fact a principle man, as he prefers solving problems in a peaceful manner if at all possible. He usually works for people who he believes were wronged. Although it is important that his client can pay, he also works for free for those who can't pay. The radio show was on air until 1960, and the television show lasted until 1963.

Love this, wish commercials were taken out

This is a great story, very entertaining. I love the acting, just wish they had taken out the commercials.

A thoroughly enjoyable radio program!

This show was well worth the money. The acting was excellent, the production quality was top notch, and all were well put together.

For me, the old commercials were an added bonus; some being entertaining in & of their own right.

radio is the way to go

i love radio dramas from podcast to audible. i use this as a fluffer between audiobooks. they are perfect for work short 30 min storys that captivate my mind and make me feel as though i am there seeing everything unfold before my eyes. though the recording sounds muffled and tinny it add to the charm of the story. the hilariously dated commercials are also a plus seeing as how most of them wouldn't fly in today's PC world.

Gun Have Travel

I found this book as good as the original TV series. I really enjoyed the narrator of Richard Boone's role. This is no longer available on prime video, unless you buy the DVDs up to $279. I give this a high marks for being the only replacement reasonably priced to listen to this TV series.

40+ hours of fun

I love classic western tv shows and it was great to indulge every day with audio series.

Nice bit of nostalgia, but...

Aside from very dated opinions, and some terribly politically incorrect portrayals, this would have been fun to listen to. However, the quality of the recording is TERRIBLE. muffled at times, scratchy sounds, and some weird noise that kept occurring almost drove me to distraction! Audible, please clean this up if you can!

Poor Quality!

I noticed when I got to chapters 24 and 25 the quality went down. It became very muffled. So disappointed! Ended up returning to Audible.

Audio Quality Abysmal

Made even worse by tape dropouts, print-through, poor tape quality and dirty styli. Original source material was from a record recorded to tape, and many episodes were re-recorded from tape to tape. Overall audio quality on a scale of 1 to 10 is a negative four (-4). Save your money and purchase the DVD collection from Amazon starring Richard Boone. P.S. Quality does go downhill after awhile

The previous reviewer is right. The quality does go downhill and muffled after about chapter 25. Have Gun Will Travel like Gunsmoke has excellent sound effects but you will never know after the get past first twenty episodes as the show is muffled, stick with ones produced by RADIO SPIRITS which sound excellent.
