About this listen

Welcome to Keating Hollow, the enchanted village where love, cupcakes, and magic collide.

There are only three things that were ever important to Noel Townsend - love, family, and magic. Two out of three aren’t bad. She’s blessed with a large close-knit family and her magic has never been stronger. But love? That ended three years ago when her husband walked out on her and her daughter, and never looked back.

These days Noel only has room in her pieced-together heart for her six-year-old daughter. But when Drew Baker shows up on the doorstep of her inn with news of her husband, fate has other plans. And so does Drew. If he can get past her defenses, Drew is going to do everything in his power to heal the heart of a witch.

Heart of the Witch by Deanna Chase

Absolutley amazing!!!!

Thrilling, full of mystery, emotion gripping, put you on the edge of your seat with anticipation and what a plot twist. I think a lot of people imagine their lives could be this interessting, I know I do and somehow children just make it so much better and unfair sometimes, as was said "we got gut punched by a 6 year old". I would definately reccomend this to readers, as it is once again a sweet and loving romance, but with a touch of mystery added ro keep you on your seat and not wanting to put the book down.

I'm in love with the witches of Keating Hallow!

The Keating Hollow witches are genuine, sincere, and magical they will have you enchanted in no time. Deanna Chase describes their struggles and joy, and it is so relatable and honest, and Gabra Zackman brings every single one of the characters to life, and her smooth narration is natural and easy to listen. This is a must for anyone who loves a little mystery and magic in their life.

Better than the First, Totally Addictive

As other reviewers have mentioned listening to this second volume I better appreciate what volume one was setting up. There was a lot of information that deepened the experience and understanding of some of the dynamics with the characters in this story. Noel and the romantic interest Drew were lots of fun to follow as they rediscover their flame for each other. The book does a great job of exploring family dynamics between mother and young daughter, grown sisters navigating their past and present, and daughters with an ailing father. It is deceptive how quickly the story and Gabra's wonderful narration pulled me into this tale and the moment I finished this volume I was already downloading book 3. The happy ending is inevitable and there was only one aspect of the final conflict between Noel and Drew that I raised a bit of a brow but the situation was quickly resolved. The use of magic is incredibly fun and I am so excited to spend more time in Keating Hollow with another Townsend sister. The final chapter had me laughing pretty hard and shifts to the point of view of Yvette and Jacob who are the main characters of book 3 Spirit of the Witch. For those who enjoyed book one I think you will love this second volume even more. This is definitely somewhat melodrama, and in terms of the romance this is more than a chaste kiss territory but no explicit sex scenes. Great supernatural romance with a little bit of mystery, great sprinkles of magic, bursts of comedy, family drama, and a town you are sure to want to spend more time in.

Still a Witchy Hallmark, With a Dash of Mystery

This is my favorite book of Chase’s so far. The townspeople are established characters by now, but continue to develop. The main character, Noel, is tough as nails and a much more in your face than Abby was. Book 1 was a bit too Hallmark-y for me, and this one continues with the sappy sweet romance; yet not everything is quite so sun-shiny perfect. The love interest with the Deputy especially when her husband up and left her three years prior gives a sense of mystery and foreboding that I really enjoyed. Her struggle to piece back her relationship with Abby was refreshing, as was highlighting her struggles with being a single strong mother for her daughter who suffers from anxiety from her father’s disappearance. The books just piece together nicely even though they’re highlighting other characters and relationships. I don’t normally read straight up romance (especially with little sex scenes) but Chase is starting to get me hooked. The ending nearly made me cry (AGAIN – THANKS DEANNA) but the final chapters bridge perfectly into the next book in the series and reel’s in the hook to keep you going. Well done!

Another wonderful book in this series

With everything going on in the world right now I needed something to make me smile. This book for sure did that. This town and these sisters are fantastic. I wish I could live there.
I loved this book. I enjoyed the story, the characters journey and their growth. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give spoilers. I will say that I finished it in one afternoon and will be getting the next one immediately, that ending has me completely hooked for the next book.

Heart of the Witch

This is a great series. A family of witches, a town where witches are normal residences. Sisters who love, have baggage, as well as powers. You'll find humor, sadness, intrigue, family and friend loyalty, and romance. The narrator does a great with her characters both male and female. Too often there is something lacking in the voices of the opposite sex of the narrator. Not in this one. They are all unique and clearly male or female.

Sisters have all returned home to be with their father who is fighting cancer. A family tragedy and desertion by their mother, all play a part in their efforts to regain their family unity. Meanwhile, love is in the air. For Noel, the desertion by her husband three years ago make it difficult for her to give in to her feelings for Drew. Divorce doesn't change the pain and her daughter's difficult adjustment.

Will a possible murder be another obstacle to keep Drew, Deputy Sherriff, and Noel apart? Is there a threat to the two females he cares about? What about the police department? Is there an internal problem?

Warning: unless you are willing to listen or read the next story—don't listen to the final chapter. I did and I can't wait. One more sister. Another unique problem. An even bigger problem—with Mr. Super Hot in the offing.

Excellent Performance of an Excellent Series

Book one formed a solid foundation for this series and this second book fits nicely on top, delving more deeply into characters we met in book one. Deanna's stories have a perfect flow without being "too" anything. Her style feels like "home" to me. A safe place to retreat and escape. I always know I can count on a nice little journey, and Keating Hollow doesn't disappoint.

I have a very persnickety ear when it comes to narrators. Gabra Zackman makes my "good list". Her voice is pleasant. She doesn't mispronounce words or have any odd non-intentional accents. I can differentiate between male/female, young/old. She doesn't have unnecessary pauses. She doesn't make weird mouth noises. She presents the characters well, performing their parts as opposed to merely reading.

Deanna Chase and Gabra Zackman make a lovely team.

Real Life with a little Magic

This book is a blend of real life struggles with magic. Keating Hallow is a charming community of witches. The Townsend sisters are very close and always have each others backs. There is not a lot of paranormal activity or magic so far. I am hoping to see more in the next books.
