About this listen

A stolen artifact. An imminent deadline. A tenacious investigator.

JB runs a private detective agency, but if business doesn’t pick up soon, he’ll have to close the doors for good. When someone steals Hekate’s chalice, JB and his maverick team jump at the chance to track down the supernatural object. They’re resourceful and determined, but can they outsmart wizards, witches, and daemons before the client’s deadline expires?

If you like gripping mysteries interwoven with generous doses of magic and humor, then you’re going to love this imaginatively creative world. Hekate’s Chalice is the first volume of the Adept Solutions series.

The story is an entertaining cozy mystery filled with characters. The narrator's mispronounciations were really distracting.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started listening to this book but the characters pulled me right in. JB takes over the business for his dad and everyone that works there has something "special" about them. I loved the characters, they are humorous and it has a great plot. If all of the books are like this one...the series is going to be a great read!

I truly enjoyed this story , but found it Way to Short. I hope the balance of the series is much longer than this book. Narrator did a lovely job and made the story that much more enjoyable.

Good Story BUT way to short!!

This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. These books each have a complete mystery with a conclusion, but the overall characters and background story are what link the books as a series. Therefore, each can be read as a stand alone but are better rounded together. Nice, easy entertainment.

JB has taken on his father’s detective agency. JB is part elf on his mother’s side, demon on his father’s side and uses that to his advantage to try and return Hekate’s stolen chalice (she is the leader of a local coven of witches). He doesn’t work alone...among his coworkers are a sister and brother pair, and fairy who is working for him as part of her punishment. Their friendly animosity is entertaining.

This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Elisabeth Lagelee). She narrates with a slower cadence so I found I had to increase the speed to make it regular speaking speed. Despite this, she does very well narrating. She uses different voices for all the characters and adds personality to each one.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

The story itself was great I really enjoyed it, the narrator on the other hand drove me nuts at times. I just didn't care for her for the most part. At times I felt like this was a children's book.

JB owns a failing investigators office. He is looking to prove his worth and also to make a name for himself that does involve the family. When someone steals Hekate's Chalice he is hired to find it.

The story involves Fairies, Demons, and magic. Hekate’s Chalice is the first volume of the Adept Solutions series. I would love to her more of this series but can't gt past the narrator. A different narrator would be awesome. I may have to read the rest of the series.

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I listened to book 2 before this one and found it to be entertaining. This is a good, funny, short story. I found the narrator to be entertaining and background to the story. When you have the types of characters involved you find yourself laughing out loud several times. Well worth the credit.

This was my first Teagan Kearney's book. This is the first book in the Adept Solutions Series. This short story is fun, intriguing, action packed, and suspenseful. Elisabeth Lagelee did a good job with the narration. This was a fun listen. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review.
