About this listen

Bosworth 1485: After victory against King Richard III, Henry Tudor becomes King of England. Rebels and pretenders plot to seize his throne. The barons resent his plans to curb their power and he wonders who he can trust. He hopes to unite Lancaster and York through marriage to the beautiful Elizabeth of York.

With help from his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, he learns to keep a fragile peace. He chooses a Spanish Princess, Catherine of Aragon, as a wife for his son Prince Arthur. His daughters will marry the King of Scotland and the son of the Emperor of Rome. It seems his prayers are answered, then disaster strikes and Henry must ensure the future of the Tudors.

I’ve enjoyed all the books of this trilogy but this one the most. In other books about Henry VII, he and his mother are portrayed as villains. I appreciated that here the author took care to give him a more balanced character. I left the book feeling intensely sorry for him and the hardships he endured throughout a very eventful life.

Favorite of the Trilogy

Good read, The story ended nicely. Some parts seemed a little rushed through (historically) Enjoyed how the author tied in other important figures' stories from the time.

overall sad life I dont think he was ever happy.

How i have enjoyed this audio book So informative and interesting. So very much I didn’t know as an American. I have read/listening to many books in this genre I believe mr riches is a close second to phillipa gregory in making me want to read all he has written I never tire of it I appreciate the eluding to violence and not having graphic detail. Also I appreciate the lack of sexual language which other use to cover up fact that they can’t tell a good story. Like the listeners don’t know Will read Ann by tony riches next. I know I won’t be disappointed Will seek out all his books

A third winner of the Tudor trilogy

I read a LOT of books on the Tudor/Plantagenet era, from historical to historical fiction. Mr. Riches' depiction of Henry VII is the one I believe to be accurate; not the paranoid, evil villain that other writers have created. Riches brings a warmth to the character. A man who is in love with his wife, but recognizes his shortcomings.

Truly enjoyed this trilogy

A fictional take on Henry VII that is new and interesting. I really enjoyed this book because it gives a new perspective and personality to Henry VII and reminds me we will never truly know how he really behaved and lived his life.

Appealing and Thought Provoking
