Publisher's summary

After a difficult childhood and a turbulent stint in the military, Declan Burke finally got his act together. Now he’s a battle-hardened professional bodyguard who takes his job at McKay-Taggart seriously and his playtime - and his playmates - just as seriously. One thing he never does, however, is mix business with pleasure. But when the mysterious, gorgeous Suzanne D’Angelo needs his protection from a stalker, his desire for her burns out of control, tempting him to break all the rules…even as he’s drawn into a dark, dangerous world he didn’t know existed.

Suzanne is an earthbound angel on her critical first mission: protecting Declan from an emerging supernatural threat at all costs. To keep him close, she hires him as her bodyguard. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that she’s in over her head, defenseless against this devastatingly sexy human who makes her crave his forbidden touch.

Together they’ll have to draw on every ounce of their collective training to resist each other as the enemy closes in, but soon it becomes apparent that nothing could have prepared them for the menace to their lives…or their hearts.

Very entertaining romance

This is my first book by Ms Ione, I listened to it as part of the Crossover from Masters & Mercenaries. I love paranormal but not big on demons, however, the characters were so interesting that it kept me entertained. I loved her hot love scenes. Definitely worth listening to.

It’s like a sexy comic book that has an audiobook included

I loved Suzanne she is so loving and sweet. Her guy became a hero with immortality and he cares a lot about her.

Angel in the Kitchen.

Another sexy shorter story. I was a little worried when they brought the torture chamber out that this was going to be more of a bdsm story, but thankfully it is not, just a bit of sexy play. I like Larissa Ione’s shorter stories, but I’m looking forward to a longer series that has a more in depth story line like the Demonica or the Horseman. I would even be interested in more of her Moonbound Clan series. Narrator is sexy.

Demons, Angels... not your typical Taggart stuff

I was expecting more of the McKay-Taggart stuff... and that was my mistake. As this book is not by Lexi. I realized this later.

This book is about demons, angels, superpowers and supernatural. Nothing close to what I was expecting in the series.

Having said that, I suppose I could like this type of book but I found it really slow. And, having to learn new terminology was a bit too much.

I will give it a better rating because I picked this book by mistake. Overall, this book didn't really appeal to me. Too slow. Sorry.

Fun mix

When demons and angels meet masters and mercenaries this is what you get.
Well done and great performance!

I love the series and the characters but

the story wasn't that great. it wasn't bad it wasn't horrible but it was some things that just seemed m e h as a plot line. as usual the writer technique and writing style is great she writes and deliver some story amazingly and the performer the narrator did a really great job nail the voices and everything but the actual story content and self wasn't that exciting. even more supposed to get exciting I still didn't feel that excitement. there was a couple of things that I don't feel like was explain well kind of feels like this should be the start of a series with this couple but I know the way that Larissa works this particular story is done and she's only setting up the foreshadowing for other stories in the series. but I did feel like at the end Suzanne got a easy win.

Good book.

I only listened to this book because I LOVE Lexi Blake's Master and Mercenary series and thought I would give it a try. I really enjoyed this book. I may give the others in the series a try, I'm kind of curious as to what will happen with other characters.

Introduction to a new series for me

I am a long time fan of the Masters and Mercenaries series, but I had never tried any of the Demonica Underwold series. While I would not generally my cup of tea, I did find this story fascinating and compelling. I really found Suzanne and Declan a wonderful couple. Hawkyn, Cipher, and Sexy were also fun characters. I will try a couple more of these stories as I definitely want to know what happened with Cipher.

Entertaining!

The narrator did a good job and fits the characters a little better than the narrators for the previous books in this series. Both have good performances and I’d recommend listening.

I liked the premise of Suzanne being the guardian angel to Declan, and her going undercover as an heiress in need of a bodyguard to keep a majorly violent demon from killing Declan. Declan is totally unaware of the supernatural, so that’s always fun waiting for the big reveal to happen. I didn’t like that Suzanne lied about things she didn’t need to lie about, and she keeps trying to hide her secrets even though it’s pretty obvious things aren’t right.

The chemistry between Declan and Suzanne is great and they are really sweet with each other. I’m not a huge fan of the BDSM type stuff though. There was a weird random mention of Declan going to some swingers party; not by his choice, but then he said he slept with some random woman there; it was all just gross and unnecessary to the story.

All the demon stuff is awesome and I like the angel stuff. All of these angels are very far from angelic. Some fun action and humor too. Looking forward to reading the next book(s)!
