About this listen

Of all the people in the world, why her?

It was supposed to be easy: find the drug maker. Find her, and drag her back to the dragons to deal with. She deserves death for what she's done.

For someone like Weston, the best alpha in the world, the one who shuts people up just by walking in the room, it would've been.

Until he learns what she is

Finding a fated mate is nearly impossible. Very few are able to do it. But the call of their bond is unmistakable. Against all odds, and in the worst situation imaginable, he's found his true mate. Her.

Worse? If there could be anything worse than a true mate that has brought the world to its knees—she doesn't seem to realize what she is. Her animal is suppressed. Locked away, leaving her nearly without magic. She doesn't know what the feeling is, and she doesn't care. She claims innocence. She thinks he's the villain in this story, and she aims to kill him before he destroys her.

It doesn't change his duty. He must bring her in, nature be damned. Regardless of how much it hurts, he'll resist the sweet taste of her lips and the heaven between her thighs. She must pay for what she's done.

He just hopes he doesn't die inside for the part he's forced to play in the destruction of his true mate.

This is a dark and very spicy Red Riding Hood retelling in the Ruin World featuring an anti-hero, a strong heroine, and a humorous supporting cast. It is not necessary to have listened to the Ruin series to enjoy this installment. Check the website for TWs. This is an enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity story suitable for 18+. It's the first of a dualogy, ending on a cliffhanger.

It was good, just not great

I really wanted to love this story the same way I loved the first four books, but there was something missing and I think its mainly that I wasn't able to connect or really care for Aurelia the same way I did with Finley.

The story itself l caught my attention, the smut was good if a little cringe here and there and Hadriel was back, he's my favorite. so no complaints there. But still, the main characters just weren't connecting for me.

Yes Aurelia is intelligent, yes she's been abused all her life and has issues but she came off as willfully ignorant when faced with the consequences of her actions and those from Granny. Her willingness to turn on Weston at the end also ticked me off and right when things were started to really look up.

Weston had his moments, but his unwillingness to talk to
Aurelia and explain their situation got old fast. Something other then that miscommunication/let's not tell her important information trope could have been used to create tension.

all he needed to do was say, hey your my mate and therefor the dragons won't kill you and things would have gone a lot smoother.

As a whole I enjoyed the book, just not as much as the original series.

Steamy

Good narration especially in the smutty parts with fun character overlap from previous books made the story an easy listen

Cliffhanger

That ending had me screaming in frustration because now I want more now. Can’t wait for the next one.

Loved it

This is the first shifter book that refers to it as "knotting". And I've listened to some pretty erotic shifter books. These two books are great, but if you don't listen to the first four beforehand, you're really missing out on good back stories. Hated the cliffhanger on this book, so be prepared to immediately start the second.

The story line didn’t mesh with previous character development

The only consistent character was hadreal. Westin was not his normal self. I honestly couldn’t get past the obliviousness of the main character. Such a different path but similar story line to the other books. I just couldn’t get over the cruelty being shown to the young girl. Even the end was a plot twist that left me unhappy and felt like a big waste of time. There was a ton of spice but honestly it was borderline non consensual. The main character Aurelia was smart but clearly weak and oblivious to the realities of the culture she lived in. Even to the end. I loved the other books. I just don’t think Westin after being held captive in the demon kingdom would be that terrible. Hadreal was the best still.

As expected

Exactly what I expected and better. The only let down is that I have to wait, again, for the next book. *sigh*

The Queen does it again

A book that I didn’t know that I needed. Always liked Weston even though he pissed me off from time to time in Ruin series. Glad that he’s getting his own series. Love the heat between Weston and Aurelia. Then there’s Hadriel who doesn’t love him, some might see him as a fool but he’s a very insightful and protected individual.

Pearl clutcher’s beware!! This book is dark, dirty, and wickedly delicious! 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

There’s a reason it’s called Deliciously Dark Fairytales. If you’re looking for a clean sweet retelling of your favorite fairy tale, this is not for you!

Smut loving heathens, carry on. You will absolutely love this redo of the classic Little Red Riding Hood tale. Our Red is known as Aurelia and she is anything but weak and helpless. Our Big Bad Wolf is resident wolf shifter Weston.

Breene’s twist to this tale was *chef’s kiss*. I greatly enjoyed the castle staff. Hadriel was my absolute favorite *cheers!*

I love this entire series. I highly suggest it if you’re not faint of heart because these books will definitely get your heart pumping and your blood flowing to all the right areas if you know what I mean. 😉

The narration is *chef’s kiss* It’s dual narration and each narrator does a phenomenal job with the portrayal of all the characters.
