Publisher's summary

Once you cross the line between love and hate, can you ever go back?

When a young woman is found dead at a popular island party spot, in what appears to be an accidental drowning, homicide detective Maggie Novak knows her weekend is about to get interesting...

In the eyes of her parents, Christie Coleman is a good girl. But her siblings know her better. Christie has dark secrets and a string of boyfriends with shady pasts. And now her family must face the real possibility that Christie's murder is the result of her dallying with danger one too many times.

As Maggie digs deeper into Christie's private life, she soon learns that the brightest sunlight casts the darkest shadows. The killer is trying to cover his tracks and send Maggie's investigation crashing into a dead end. She knows it's only a matter of time before another innocent party falls victim, blowing her case wide open.

Can Maggie catch Christie's killer before he erases the evidence and escapes justice?

Narrator is bad

Series started with Karen Peaks and the change to the new narrator is awful, her diction is annoying. Get Karen Peaks back please.

Not my favorite, but still a good installment

I think this was my least favorite of the series, it's still a good book with a good story, but just something about this one made it feel super long and dragged out.

The narration was a little better than the previous one, same narrator as before. Could still hear mouth sounds and still could hear back ground noises, albeit not as much as the previous book, so there was some improvement.

Overall, still a good listen but not as good as the previous books. I hope (if there is a next one) will be better.

loved the book

Loved the book but wish Karen Peakes was still the narrator. This narrator had some background noises that were mildly distracting while listening to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the story however and would love for more books about Maggie to be written.

Needs a new narrator

The story was ok. Long and drawn out from the beginning. The narrator made it worse. Very monotone and dry reading.

Too much repetition

Turn off narrator needs to be replaced with the first narrator of the early books. It's too much repetition of replaying the story over and over

Narrator is awful

I love Keith Houghton’s books! Unfortunately the narrator is not Karen Peakes. Please bring her back! I hope the Maggie Novak series will continue. I like her!

Engaging and suspenseful!

I just finished listening to the audio version of Her Only Regret and thoroughly enjoyed it! I found myself awake after midnight, not wanting to end it for the night. This was the second book by Keith Houghton I have listened to, and both were equally as spell-binding. The narrator, Helen D. Gordon, made the events believable with her exceptional story-telling skills, making each character come to life, revealing their secrets and playing on the emotions of the readers like a fine, musical instrument.
Bravo to both the author and narrator! I will be watching for more from each of you!

Disappointing

I really enjoyed the first two books but struggled with the last two. Changing the narrator mid series wasn't a move I liked. My unfortunate OCD compels me to always finish a series. This was truly the worse story for me. First, the almost clinical breathy narration was horrid. Second, the poetic license with regard to police procedure was absurd at times. Lastly, it seems some scenarios repeated themselves just for the sake of adding more pages to the book.

The narrator isn’t a fit

The narrator’s voice is…robotic and monotone. Her voice left me disliking the main character, Maggie.
