About this listen

Powerful lord. Infamous rake. Forced into a fake engagement with a wallflower…that leads to true love.

Lord Richard Seaton will do anything to find his missing brother—even confront criminal lord Thorne Blackmore. Thorne’s price for information? Something Richard’s wounded heart vowed never to pay: marriage. And not to one of the stunning debutantes chasing him but to Thorne’s bluestocking sister, Jane.

Shunned by the ton thanks to her scandalous brother, Miss Jane Grant runs a school that saves Whitechapel children from the gallows. Unwilling to abandon her students for marriage, a fake engagement is her only escape.

Jane offers to dig up the information Richard needs before the wedding. But they must keep their deal a secret or endanger Richard’s family and face Thorne’s wrath.

Narrated by the award-winning narrator, Audie finalist, and Earphones for excellence in narration winner, Shane East, and Justine Eyre, a classically trained actor and narrator has been honored to receive a coveted Audie Award and multiple AudioFile Earphones Awards.

Independent lady

Jane, a young woman born from a noble family, was taken in by her criminal bastard brother after her father passed away when she was 16 years old. The Ton shunned her because of her brother. She grew up in White Chapel where the poor and criminals lived and wanted to make a difference in children’s lives by teaching them and had a school, with her brother’s help. Richard found out that Jane’s brother was hired to beat up Spencer, the brother who was missing, and went to ask him about it. Instead Richard made an agreement to marry Jane to get the information he needed. Good story with great narrators.

Terrible!

What happened with the author?? This book was AWFUL! It started out with the promise of an interesting continuation of the plot line but suddenly, the main characters became stupid and their thought processes were silly!! I didn’t care what happened to the couple and was hoping that Thorn killed Richard. I would have preferred a story regarding Thorn and not his twit of a sister! The narrators voices sounded like they had Parkinson’s tremors. Overall, just terrible!!!
