About this listen

Taking the wrong man home for Christmas never felt so right in this heartwarming romance book full of holiday cheer from USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy McConnell.

Diana Dalagar can’t stand the idea of her grumpy--though totally hot--neighbor spending Christmas alone, so she invites Cliff to the family cabin. In the planning, there’s a slight misunderstanding that gives her mother the impression they are engaged. Which is great, because it will keep Diana’s family off her back about why she’s still single.

She’ll just have to make sure that Cliff doesn’t find out what she’s done.

Cliff has no desire to get into another relationship that could embarrass him in front of a church full of people. When he finds out Diana set him up as her fake fiancé, he’s understandably upset. But, Diana is the color in his otherwise dreary winter day. He’d do anything for her—even play the doting fiancé for Christmas.

Pretending to be a couple puts the two of them in close quarters where their lips continually come together to create Christmas magic. When the stakes are raised by a chaotic Christmas Day wedding, Cliff’s hurtful past crashes into his possible future with Diana.

In order to start a life with Cliff, Diana will have to confess how she truly feels. But, saying “I love you” is a dangerous thing.

Can Diana make their wishes come true; or, will she be alone under the mistletoe again this Christmas?

Fake fiancé for Christmas

I liked the story about the love of family. Diana & her cousin are single and their families try to set them up each year.
Diana decided to asked her neighbor Cliff if he would join her for Christmas. The issues is Cliff is quiet and an introvert, who had been left at the altar. Diana tells her mother they are engaged, but don't tell anyone. Then the secret is revealed. they both fell in love, but the lie has overshadowed it.

Virtual Voice ruined the story.

Cute story, but didn’t make sense that Diana couldn’t say “no” to stop the wedding plans. Hated the virtual voice. It was pleasant sounding, but there were too many awkward pauses as if it was the end of a sentence, but then the last two or three words of the sentence was combined with the next sentence. Being a teacher and an avid reader, it made me cringe every time (and it happened a lot).

Brides family is horrific

Bride’s family is judgmental of unmarried women and horribly pushy. Even if it’s fake the poor groom’s family had less than 24hrs when it turns to a real engagement. The brides family seems to think it’s acceptable to plan a wedding where the bride and groom don’t get a say in the date, the minister, the location or even the dress. The brides mom and aunt need to be put in their places and taken down a notch. To bad the bride and groom don’t have a backbone to do it. Only the cousins has a backbone but she was a little late and her mom’s comment you need to grow up life isn’t about you. The mom and aunt Willow apparently think everyone life is all about them and people can’t make their own choices, they must do as they dictate. The Mom and Aunt Willow are unchristian. Diana should’ve left with the groom her family doesn’t deserve any explanation. Aunt Willow in the end doesn’t learn and remains an evil busy body. I suspect the mom is also still and evil busy body.
