Publisher's summary

Telling his story in "three chapters," Ram Dass explains how he moved from the structured academic world to wide-open experiences with psychedelics (and the Harvard experiments with Timothy Leary). Then in India, he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji), who taught him to "just be here now."
Ram Dass shares with us how we can all attain a state of well-being. The result is that we'll become more centered, and we'll learn to see the God in each other, which ultimately leads to an overwhelming sense of oneness with, and love for, our fellow humans.
As Neem Karoli Baba says, "The same blood runs through all our veins."

He recorded Here We All Are, which reflects the transformation of Dr. Richard Alpert to Ram Dass, in 1969.

Bonus-Be Here Now music included in this download: This download features music from Ram Dass lectures from 1968 to 1970. It was one of the first recordings of its kind to introduce the concepts of Kirtan (chanting) to this country. It also has some of the most important mantras from the Vedic tradition of India.

Great lecture the songs weren’t necessary

Felt like I could have just listened to his lecture on YouTube and gotten the same info without the songs

Brilliant as always

Typical of the wisdom, insight, and thought provoking nature of Ram Dass's teachings, this book offers a humble and sometimes comedic recount of his history from his Harvard dsys to his journey to India and meeting Maharaji. Ram Dass generously and graciously shares his experience and personal and spiritual discoveries of what "it's" all about. I love this talk as much as I love him. Well worth the time to listen the first time and the 100th! Blessings.

Enlightening and entertaining

In a funny and self-deprecating manner of storytelling, Ram Das opens up his path of discovering a spiritual life.

His constant curiosity, his ability to make fun of his own pomposity, and his love for discovering a deeper truth are all part of it.

I just started listening to it for the third time. Still entertaining. Still enriching.

Corta, sustanciosa y transformadora charla.

one of the best stories of my life

I first heard Ram Dass'story 4 decades ago and it touched me so deeply that I listened many tubes through.
In the intervening years things he said would come back to me from time to time, in reflection of other teachings, including academics in psychology. When I needed some clarity and reassurance of come back to this story, until of course I looked for everything Ram Dass shared.
One of the reasons he spoke to my soul is that he talked like a social scientist, an observer of his own unfolding.
I was serendipitously blessed to be at his last retreat last December, and to touch his feet. I've never had that impulse before.
Give yourself this gift, just in case it speaks to you in the same way.
