Excellent and enjoyable

Highland Bandits, my second read from historical romance author Blair Keith. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes books she reads influence me. I don't restrict myself to a particular genre. I'm a sucker for anything with memorable characters and a story that keeps me guessing. The perfect novel? A book that keeps me turning the page long after I should have called it a night. This was a well-written book, I'll definitely read more from this author, in fact after reading this I went out & purchased 3 Blair Keith collections totalling 28 books. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Great quick listen

A few minutes in to the story I realized I had read the book a while ago. Andrew McDermott’s narration brought so much to the story. His accent was perfect, he moves in and lit of characters so well. Loved the story of good winning in the end but the narration just brings so much more

Wonderful Narration

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is an enjoyable quick read. While I enjoyed the story overall, I wish that instead of having the characters recount the events occurring in the book, the author had fleshed these events out and allowed the reader to experience them with the character. I believe this would have created more empathy with the characters.

For the story itself, I was at 3 stars but the narration by Andrew McDermott really puts this book over the top. He has a wonderful Irish accent with a great tenor voice which he uses to great effect. His narration pulled me into the story.

Pleasantly Surprised

Highland Bandits by Blair Keith is a short novella that follows Bridget, a young girl who loses her whole family in a fire and how she finds her way after the tragedy.

As I was listening, several questions kept popping up in my mind. I wasn’t sure where the author was going with the story and couldn’t imagine that it would be wrapped up in the short time there was. Much to my surprise the author was able to answer all of my questions and tied up all of the lose ends nicely.

Andrew McDermott gives another shining performance and I’m pleased to hear him doing more of a romance type genre.

Cool short story!

This is a solid story that felt like it could have used significantly more development. The story is complete, but I believe I would have enjoyed it more if the scenes had been fleshed out a bit more.

The narrator did a fabulous job to enhance the feel of the period and setting!
