Publisher's summary

Country music star Devin McClain never imagined he'd attract crazed fans who would do anything to garner his attention. When veiled threats become real, he agrees to hire a discreet security detail. But Devin is shocked to find that the bodyguard is a hard-bodied woman and that he's attracted to the steely-eyed stunner. Former soldier Liberty Masterson's return to civilian life is wrought with challenges until she lands a job with a prestigious security firm. But when she agrees to provide personal protection during a cross-country tour, she doesn't realize she has signed up to masquerade as the playboy star's girlfriend. However, Devin soon realizes that he wants to turn their charade of a romance into reality. Although Liberty surrenders to his every whim behind closed doors, she fears the sexy country star doesn't see the real her. Devin can't help but worry when the tour ends that there might not be enough between them to build something that won't fade away. Contains mature themes.

AWESOME!

If you could sum up Hillbilly Rockstar in three words, what would they be?

I've been looking forward to Dev's story since Turn and Burn came out. Lorelei James does a great job of portraying what goes into a musician's life- the long hours and the incredible lengths groupies will go to 'own' a piece of their 'idol'. I'm really happy that she included Liberty's story as the kick-ass woman and ex-soldier she is, dealing with the problems that often accompany our military. Enough said so I don't spoil anything. I do have to say though- the Wright Brothers? They have been playing a secret role in my fantasies....Oh, yeah :)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hillbilly Rockstar?

When Devin tells Liberty why he hasn't had intercourse in a few years and she gets how messed up the groupies are and how much it affects the actions of the musicians.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Liberty takes Devin to the bowling alley for some karaoke, no one recognizes him and some guy tells him to 'get off the stage' while the MC tells him that he just chose the wrong song and she could give him some advice to help him out. So funny!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would seriously go to any movie about LJ's books. I don't go to many movies( boring) but I'd see her stories.

Any additional comments?

I hope LJ keeps the great western books coming and bringing them out in audio. Thanks for the great work.

A slightly different book!

While this book is slightly different than the rest of the series it was great to follow a couple outside of Muddy Gap, but still be connected!
I love the fact that each book is related and we see a glimpse of previous characters later in life!
And… yes… the sex is amazing!

Holy Hotness!

Bad-ass bodyguard protecting hot musician with stalker problems. Yep we've all seen and read this story right? Wrong the bad-ass bodyguard is sultry sexy Liberty. The musician Man-whore Devin.

They have to get passed their preconceived notions of each other he thinks she's butch asexual woman with not sex appeal she thinks he's and smooth talking man whore who use his celebrity to get laid. When the get past those hurdles and fall into bed together it is so hot you'll have to turn on your AC.. Two experienced sexually adventurous adults doing their best to devour each other at every turn.

Honestly it is hard not to like Liberty she is all strength and confidence on the surface and sweetly insecure at her core. Devin despite being smoking hot a little high handed and arrogant is decidedly sweet and vulnerable too. The sex is hot the fights funny and the ending sexy and sweet.

Truly loved this story

It surprised me, I’m not usually a fan of musicians, however this was a very well written story and characters. It had intrigue, humor, and hot sex. Very good story.

Steamy, heartwarming who-dun-it romance

From the description, I was expecting this to be a cross between Christine Feehan's intense rockstar romance Turbulent Sea and Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour sexcapades. Since most of Cunning's sinful sexcapades were too much for me with the acrobatic and gratuitous erotica, I was thrilled that this was more like the sexy intensity in Turbulent Sea.

But that's where the similarity ends. With a wonderful role reversal, James creates a fascinating character in Liberty, the soldier sister mentioned in Saddled and Spurred, sister to lead Harper Masterson. Liberty is dealing with post war reintegration as a security specialist and now bodyguard, a role usually played in romantic fiction by the male. But Liberty is far from butch. And Devin is far from the stereotypical music star. If you've caught him in previous books in this edgy series, you probably suspected that!

James does an excellent job of turning these two characters toward one another despite a lot antagonism on both sides and I was thrilled that she avoided some of the usual cliches often seen in romantic suspense. Mostly I was thrilled that she didn't used the tired "misunderstanding" plot device as I was convinced of early on. The who-done-it part was a little too obvious, and I'd down grade a great listen to 4.5 if we could.

The pacing will keep you engaged in the story, the romance will keep you warm, and the sexy parts will make you burn. James has written the best one of the Blacktop Cowboy series--in character development, plot, and resolution. Altho all the other books in the series earned four stars from me, this one gets a 5.
Thoroughly enjoyable. I might even give country music a second try!

Awesome!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Hillbilly Rockstar to be better than the print version?

Great series!! You can read as stand alone but I highly recommend reading them all!

Another Great Read

What can I say I absolutely love Lorelei James and this book didn't disappoint. I love this series and this story was so good I hated to put it down. I can't wait to start on the rest that's out which is what I'm moving on to next. If you like hot steamy romance with one hot cowboy and kick ass heroine then this is a must add to your library.
