Publisher's summary

A day at the beach turns into potential tragedy when Quinn and Rowan Gray-Davenport witness a boat going down in the cove. A quick swim helps them save a father, twin girls, and a set of pouty grandparents, but then things take a turn.

Rowan’s daughter Lana shows the family photos of the rescue later, and everybody they just saved has a death omen hanging over them. Save for one person, the grandmother. That means that death isn’t done with the family, and it’s up to Rowan and her merry band of paranormal hunters to find the answers necessary to save everybody involved.

It seems this isn’t the first time tragedy has befallen the family. The twins’ mother disappeared months before, abandoning her family and leaving a messy situation behind. As Rowan begins to dig, she realizes there might be more to the story than she ever imagined.

The victims have a lot of money—and it’s old money, so they’re insulated from scandal—but it appears something in their past is threatening their future.

It’s going to take everybody working together to save them. And even then, some ghosts don’t die. They can never be forgotten either.

It’s a race to the finish. Who will be left standing?

Always Enjoyable!

The story continues with all the characters from previous books still a part of the new adventures. Definitely worth your time.

I have realized the narrator is the problem

This series has been difficult for me to listen to. However, I like to listen to this authors books while I do crafts or puzzles because the story is easy to follow when I’m doing something with my hands. I really like most of her series for both pen names she uses. Some more than others.
This book is when I realized that the stories I like the least, the ones that are the hardest to get through, are those with this particular narrator.
I went back and checked all the stories I liked the least, and every one was by this narrator. I wouldn’t have even noticed had I not been reading in kindle some of this book when I couldn’t listen along. It’s like I hate the book, but then I like it again. So I know it’s the narrator.
It’s particularly annoying when she reads for kids. It just sounds like a drunk adult trying to speak. Not a child. I physically cringe whenever a child is speaking. There is a lot of kids speaking in this one.
The story is good here. The relationship with Rowan’s father, who has now been back in her life for a little while now, is interesting. It’s frustrating when he doesn’t listen to her about what’s appropriate for her own children in terms of gifts, but I can see how that would be an evolution of the guilt he felt in disappearing from her life as a teenager. It would have been a good read if I didn’t have to listen to it bit by bit, so I wasn’t so annoyed with it.
I like these books. I like the author. It’s not the best I’ve ever read but I enjoy it. I love that there aren’t sex scenes that make me uncomfortable to read or listen to in public. I like that most of these take place in Michigan. I really enjoy the other narrators. But this one, for this and all my other less favorite stories, make it hard to listen to.
Supposedly she doesn’t read reviews if her character that she put into her other books is actually a real representation of her. I know she has taken that opportunity to express her opinion on bad reviews a couple of times. But gosh I hope they find a different narrator for these stories, or use this one less. I can’t be the only one that feels this way. Even my husband made a comment about it unprompted when I was listening in the car. At the very least, maybe give the narrator some notes about how to read these stories.

I liked it

Some of the others have been better. The story line is like another one by Lily or Amanda. The twins where older and they where eval but same concept.

Great ending!

Sometimes I need a good mystery like this without too much drama. Definitely a feel good, cozy mystery.

Love this series!

I have listened to these stories over and over. It is a comfort read for me. It soothes frazzled nerves, in other words. The kids are just awesome. These parents have bonded to raise their magical offspring in the best way. I want to join their group as an ‘aunt’!
