Publisher's summary

The stunning conclusion to the Portal Wars trilogy.

Jake Taylor and his cyborg soldiers have fought their way from one Portal planet to another, moving steadily homeward with one goal in mind - the utter destruction of the corrupt rulers who sent them to hell to fight and die as pawns in a dishonest war, one started not by the alien enemy, but by Earth's own government, as a tool in its plot to seize total power.

And now, after the fighting, the suffering, the bitter losses; finally, it is time. Time for the final invasion of Earth. Time to liberate their homeland from the totalitarian government that controls it utterly, to find those responsible for all that has happened, and to kill them all.

Jake and his warriors are hopelessly outnumbered, but they are determined to battle to the last, to sacrifice all for any hope of victory, however small. But Taylor and his soldiers are not alone in their fight, for in Earth's shadows, in the rotting slums and the remote countryside, in dark corners and crumbling cellars, a spark of defiance has survived and grown, men and women who remember liberty, and are willing to die for the chance to regain what they lost a generation before. They are preparing, and waiting. Waiting for the chance to strike a blow for freedom.

But those who cling to power will not give it up easily. Indeed, the politicians who run UNGov will see Earth a charred ruin, the dead lying in unburied heaps before they will yield their positions. The battle is about to begin, and it will not end until only one side remains.

Is Jake Taylor willing to go all the way, to fight to the end, do whatever he must, to accept nothing less than death or total victory, whatever the cost?

Very exciting audiobook !!!

What made the experience of listening to Homefront the most enjoyable?

A great sci-fi military audiobook with some amazing action scenes and an interesting story that kept me hooked untill the ending. I didn’t notice, like some of the reviewers, that the narrator was absent, I guess they had that parts fixed and narrated again. I loved how the characters are well developed, and Jake's character is especially likeable. Overall I have enjoyed in this space adventure and I recommend the book to all the fans of the genre.

Great story but...

This is the last book in the series. It's as good as the other book and I enjoyed the story. The performance is good. Easy to listen to. The only negative about Jay Allans books I have is the repetition of facts you already know. lots of it. I jist wrestled through it. But despite that I finished and enjoyed it.

Enjoyed it !

Where does Homefront rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Nicely completed sci-fi trilogy. If you liked the first two books, this one is a must-have in your collection. I didn’t find any major plot holes or inconsistency in the storyline and there are many interesting twists and exciting space action scenes. I could totally imagine this audiobook trilogy as a movie saga one day. It has that potential! Also the narration is fixed, so there are no more unedited parts or audio errors.

Suspenseful sci-fi audiobook

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I found nothing wrong with the narration, it was quite exciting in some action sequences, so in my opinion, Liam Owen did a great job narrating this audiobook. I love this genre, not only when it comes to books, but also sci-fi movies set in space. This audiobook has a wonderful and exciting story, very well constructed from the author. There were many twists and turns, but the ending kept me wanting more. 5 stars, well deserved!

Draft?

Starting at chpt 23, the narration goes to "draft mode" repeating sections, coughs, narrater blowing his nose, etc. I couldnt finish it.

Exciting Finale!

I've been waiting for this to come out for a while, and it didn't disappoint! Great narration! I see a few posts about issues on narration, but these sounded good. Maybe download again? Anyway, Jake Taylor marches his army to free earth, but he encounters many set backs and twists. I don't want to spoil it but, his back is against the wall several times! Many twists and great story!

A good continuation (Audio errors Chap 21 - 23)

What three words best describe Liam Owen’s voice?

One of my favorite narrator's

Any additional comments?

Between chapters 21 and 23 there are many audio errors, it actually sounds like audio attempts from recording, you will here the narrator repeat a sentence several times in different tones presumably it all should have been cut out.

It actually goes to show the amount of time and effort Liam Owen puts into his narrating jobs, Liam Owen is still one of favorite narrator's, I'm sure it was just an honest mistake by the audio editors.

Great Story and Narration

Excellent story, and action. Noticed a few comments on something being missed on editing, believe these have been addressed. Perhaps this was on an earlier version.

One in three

This series would have made one decent book. The other two thirds was repetition and exposition that could have been cut.
The performance was blah and the narrator has problems pronouncing words correctly. A-nah-theh-ma not Ana-thema. E-dict not ed-dict. Huh-gem-o-knee not hedge-eh-mony.
