Publisher's summary

When love collides with danger, only the brave will survive....

Of all the alehouses in all of Scotland, he walked into hers.

Highland warrior Tavish MacNeal is a wanted man. After narrowly escaping the Usurper King Balliol’s noose, his only hope of survival is to hide out in the Lowlands. He is just passing through Lorraine Bronson’s alehouse, but when a pack of Balliol’s soldiers give the widowed alewife trouble, he can’t help but intercede. So much for lying low. To protect them both, Lorraine claims they are husband and wife. Though he is forced to play along with the ruse, the longer he stays, the greater the risk of discovery. But as Tavish's feelings for Lorraine deepen, he realizes he may be in more danger from his own heart than from the Usurper's men.

Only by the sweat of her brow and the skin of her teeth has Lorraine managed to keep her alehouse afloat. Now thanks to her lie, she and the mysterious Highlander who came to her rescue are trapped in a fake marriage. But when she learns she’s harboring a fugitive, she realizes she is in as much danger as Tavish. Even as the web of deception threatens to ensnare them, Tavish’s touch awakens a passion she’d thought long-dead. Can she risk her heart again, especially when it could mean losing everything?

A must-listen for fans of passionate historical romance, this captivating tale of love and danger will leave you breathless. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable journey to medieval Scotland!

Great love story made better by narrator

If one could fall in love with a narrator, I have done just that! Tim Campbell makes the stories he reads come alive and his range of accents paints a vibrant picture of the story. It is as if one not only hears the story but sees it unfold.
I truly enjoy Emma Prince’s author’s notes at the end of her stories. Her explanations of various topics she focuses on within each story adds so much to the story and to the era in which her story is set. It makes the read feel like one is not only an observer of the unfolding story but that one is actually a participant.
